Works well, great for vintage computing
There are different "colors" for this product. I got the "black" which is actually a white mSata to IDE adapter. It looks like the reviews for entirely separate products all get grouped together. This review is of the "color" that allows for adding a mSata drive to a laptop IDE connector. It works great. I had no problems installing or setting it up. Everything fit and aligned properly. I was able to replace an aging laptop harddrive with a SSD using this. With vintage computers you have to be careful about hard drive size compatibility but I had no problems. I had initially thought that the white cover looked 3d printed but up close I don't believe it was. I don't have any benchmarks on speed. Subjectively, I thought this would boost performance more than it did. However, it could be the SSD itself, or more likely, due to the IDE bus. So I cannot blame the product here. But be aware that this might not be a magic speed boost. Overall I am happy with it. There aren't a lot of options for this kind of upgrade so it is great that this exists.

does its job, not perfect, but definitely seems to be a quality, unique, product EDIT
there were some stability issues when using with a usb3 adapter, but a change of port cured that (not uncommon with pata drives on usb adapters). not able to access the s.m.a.r.t. and such of the kingston mSata drive I put in it, nor the ability to update the mSata's firmware, but achieved 90+ MB/s on the read & write to the mSata over usb3. will update once I have a chance to test in a direct pata install. will see if it can make a really old 2.8Ghz P4 with 1GB of ram usable at all, vs the mechanical 5400rpm drive - which takes many minutes to boot. docked it a star because of needing another adapter/enclosure to be able to update firmware on the mSata SSD. EDIT: via the pata connector in the laptop (toshiba a25-s307) dos could see the drive an its contents, but I could not make my clone bootable, nor could i get a fresh install of xp to the point of booting.

New life for old laptop
Worked flawlessly in a very old HP6110 Compaq laptop, at very low cost, under MX Linux.

It works REALLY well for gaining speed on atleast 1 laptop...
Combined this up with a 128gb drive and stuck them in to an old Dell 2650. Windows XP loaded super fast and aside from any limitations the glorious P4 or max amount of ram the laptop has, it worked great. I did it to find out just how nicely someone else's project went from many years ago and that I found while doing a Google search for something not even fully related. Anyway, this thing has done awesome and I look forward to remembering what old programs ran in XP. Should be a blast.

Mixed results on PowerBook G3 Series (Wallstreet)
Bought this to replace the factory spinning rust drive with higher performance SSD on my PowerBook G3 Series Wallstreet. Physically everything fit fine, but had a lot of issues getting it to recognize. Now I have it recognizing and it does work, but it is extremely slow. Boot up takes several minutes longer than the spinning rust. It will hang for long periods when transferring or saving files. I’ve used the SSD on other computers without this adapter and it was very fast. So I don’t think the issue is the drive. I ended up going back to the regular hard drive and performance is back to normal. I think that compatibility needs to be improved as this is going to be most marketable to those wanting to resurrect old hardware.

Great for retro/older IDE only machines
I've used two of these, and one of the smaller variant, in several older Pentium/G4 PowerPC era laptops and been very happy with the results. The adapter works well enough, doesn't really affect the performance of the drive and has been pretty snappy for at least Ultra-66 IDE speeds. There may be some performance loss/issues at Ultra-100/133 speeds but that's not something I've had a need for. All in all, a great option/way to replace a failing spinning rust drive with an SSD for older IDE only laptops.

I paired adapter enclosure with the BAITITON MSATA III 128GB SSD for use in a iMac G4, replacing the existing 3.5" hard disk. I ran the Apple OS 9.2 installation disc. Initialized the drive, and partitioned it with no complaints. Installed the OS on a single partition using the entire drive, and the machine boots from it. I've been using it since January daily without any issues so far. -- Update: The original I've been using above still works, and it's now 2 years on and I've purchased another for my Power Mac G4 and it's replaced the 10GB harddisk. For this build I used a Transend 64GB mSATA disk. Very happy to see the same product is sold and not changed. Works perfect with the retro Apple machines.
