Does a video production professional for years and with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max I can’t help but want to use it in Waze where I can be creative with its video features. Even though iPhones these days have really great stabilization built into their video recording software, I love the idea of being able to stabilize the phone with your grip as well, but also being able to attach supplemental lighting and audio capturing. If you like to capture video with your iPhone, and do more with it and post production editing this small video rig is a great idea to help make the most of the moments or capturing video. Right away, I was struggling the build quality with this metal enclosure. It’s also great to know that there is a rubber lining inside the metal frame that allows your iPhone to slip right in for a snug fit. The top latch that clicks together with the rest of the frame has a very satisfying click that I love hearing every time I use this. My third-party cold shoe adapters for a small LED light and microphone work excellent and are very snug on the spots where a cold shoe can fit. I’m really impressed with the detachable handle because I’ve heard some people say it it’s difficult to use but I think it’s very easy to use as long as you understand the proper way to pinch it open and let it clamp a different different areas. I’m primarily landscape positioning person when I’m shooting video but I can see how for social media being able to switch between portrait and landscape has a huge benefit.

I love SmallRig’s products. They really make some great phone cages. Now they also make a quick release handle that is so easy to use. It is such an improvement over the older style that had be screwed on. The quick release handle also has a wireless remote button that is attached. The button can be removed. That is very convenient because I can hold this one hand and use the remote button with the other. The 15 Pro Max iPhone fits perfectly. The metal cage provides some drop protection as well. Holding the quick release handle also acts as a stabilizer. It is much better than holding the phone alone. This can really open the door to getting more creative with mobile photography. This is a good option if you are just starting out with using a phone cage. It is less expensive than the full two handle set. One handle is enough for a lot of shots. The quality of this cage and the quick release handles is hard to beat.

I got this the other day; this is my first phone cage. The side handle is easy to attach and release, and it is very easy to use in different situations. The drawback (?) is that the quick-release needs two screws and a washer assembled. However, when switching from side handle mode to top handle mode, you need to take it apart, turn it 90 degrees, and re-assemble it to make it work correctly. Of Course, you can buy an extra handle to make it easy when you are in a hurry, but if there is a way to make rotation +/- 90 degrees easier, that will make this design (QUICK-release) easier. It is a great quality item. I am going to get my 2nd handle for quick switching.

This is a great high quality rig for iPhone 15 Pro(s) or other smartphones if you are looking to get into smartphone photography. Assembly and part configuration is quick and straightforward, it’s very easy. Quality of the material is very sturdy and hefty. So far, it feels durable, but this is coming from someone, who hasn’t drop the rig on a hard floor. Also, there’s grippy rubber sections along the handle. It feels good but I’ll have to see how it wears (I’ll circle back to this review if it wears out) over uses. Have used it over a hiking, so far so good. The shutter button can separated and work as a remote shutter button which also comes in helpful when the situation requires. As a Vine review, I’m limited to what configuration I can get, but it looks like there are several configuration bundle options with various price points. Hence, just buying the right configuration earlier on may save you time and money from digging into the rabbit hole. *I’m part of the Vine program and received the product in exchange for my honest and non-biased opinion as a review.

Very high quality cage, the fit and finish is premium, and turns the iPhone into a more professional tool. All machining is clean and smooth, and feels like it will last a lifetime. Accessories screw on and off easily, and the cage has a lot of versatility. Add protection to the phone too, and I imagine it would save it if dropped. I feel like it's a good deal for the money too, as some other brands get more expensive with less features.
