The Power and the Beauty
I had a phase of getting Best Of's of artists I quite liked/remembered from the past but didn't have any CDs of and this was the one I went for, with Carly Simon. She is well known for a handful of songs (which is still a whole lot more than many other 'stars') plus a James Bond theme. Her voice is utterly distinctive, but in a good way, ranging from breathy beauty up to power-rock of the highest order.Obviously a cross section of songs, over the 20 tracks. All are entirely listenable - you won't suddenly need to grab for the skip or volume controls, though of course some are stronger than others. For many it's the anthemic Nobody Does It Better and for others it's You're So Vain. Whilst the odd acoustic guitar accompanied ballad are well sung and good to listen to, it's the superbly bass-laden tracks of Why and Coming Round Again, with its lovely plinky plonk synthesizer that (for me - and for many) epitomises Carly and her music.A word on quality - superb, even on a ripped from disc to Ipod, all tracks are pin-sharp clear and with great stereo separation. And where the bass-lines rule, they truly gurgle deeply here.If you're a real Carly Simon fan, then you'll have many original studio albums, if not all and you won't be wanting or needing a compilation. For the rest of us, though, this'll do just fine!

Over the years, certain cd s have vnished from my collection.
I may never know when or where Reflections disappeared from my collection. The chance to buy a copy used was too good to miss.I am happy to have this one back in the fold. Carly simon Has long been a pivotal mover in the music industry..

Excellent compilation
This is the American edition of this collection. On the minus side, it doesn't contain the Chic produced WHY from 1982. I have this track elsewhere on an 80s compilation however. But the pluses outweigh the minuses. This cd clocks in closer to 80 minutes and also puts the retrospective in chronological order, even coming up to the year 1999 with one track AMITY. Not on the European edition.

Get the UK edition
"Reflections" features different tracklistings on the US and UK editions. I highly recommend the UK edition over the US one because it features "Why", Simon's 1982 collaboration with CHIC, "Boys in the Trees" and "We Have No Secrets", and they are not included on the US edition. For me, these are three essential Carly Simon tracks, particularly "Why" which showed Simon could really groove. All of Simon's major hits are featured, including "You're So Vain", "Coming Around Again", the Bond theme song "Nobody Does It Better", the soulful "You Belong To Me" and Simon's Oscar-winning theme song from Working Girl, "Let the River Run". Unlike the US edition, the sequencing of songs is not chronological, but still tastefully programmed.Highly recommended.

Track 16 different on my cd to the one shown!
Bought this specifically for track 16 " Better not tell her." Unfortunately the cd I received has " Boys in the trees" as track 16. Still excellent cd but I already have most of the other tracks on other albums so not happy :(

Classic Carly.
What a wonderful album.I only received it today but I know it will be one of my favourites. It makes me think of the'70s,a time which produced some of the music I love most.

A worthy compilation
This CD will delight Carly Simon fans and those who only sing along when "You're so vain" is on the radio. It's an excellent selection of her music and very well recorded, the sound quality on the CD is much better than I had expected. If you like this then you'll also enjoy Carole King's "Natural Woman".Perfect for relaxing on a nice summer's evening, the stress just melts away!
