The plot centres around a retired police detective "Scottie" who has acrophobia and is hired as a private investigator to follow the wife of an acquaintance and uncover the mystery of her peculiar behaviour. This poster is the title cover of the film and represents Scottie`s fear of heights and the swirling dizziness he feels when faced with them. His incapabilities to rescue those that fall from such heights is also at the centre of Vertigo`s narrative.
