Bardo Pond (Pict Lp + Insert) [VINYL]

First things first; Bardo Pond is an experimental psychedelic rock band from America. Selft-titled is their 8th LP and in my eyes a massive return to form from the slightly disappointing 'Ticket Crystals'. While 'Ticket Crystals' seemed to have the vocals higher in the mix at the expense of the groove, this album has gone back to a more soft droney vocal approach that has a more fluid balance to their sound. The combination of the Gibbons' guitars, Takeda's bass lines the occasional flute and harmonica are as hypnotic as Bardo have ever played. It is also the first Bardo album that I have enjoyed Sollenberger's lyrics.'Someone screaming in the distance, there's a black sky... about to turn deep blue'They are simple but descriptive and paint a perfect backdrop to the bardo sound. This is an album to put on late at night, sat around a camp fire with a bunch of friends.I would also like to say that at £10 approx for over an hour of material, it was one of the best value LP's I have ever purchased.
