I've had this CD for around ten years and it's still one of my favourite compilations. Real value for money because of the very generous track listing;Let's Stay Together, Sha La La, L-O-V-E, Tired Of Being Alone, Call Me, Simply Beautiful, I'm Still In Love With You,Here I Am, Look What You Done For Me, Take Me To The River, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?,You Ought To Be With Me, Let's Get Married, Full Of Fire, Livin' For You, Keep Me Cryin', I Say A Little Prayer,Unchained Melody.The very best of Al Green is exactly that; his best know songs are all here.Well worth buying and currently, at time of writing this review, out of stock on Amazon so pick up a stray copy if you happen to see one around. Highly recommended.

Arrived in perfect condition and quick. Had the album on repeat since it arrived.The only qualm would be that it doesn't feature 'Can't get next to you' otherwise love the album and his version of Unchained Melody. My experiences of buying 70's soul albums on cd and mp3 were such that I was driven to re-purchase most on vinyl because of the thin, brittle sound many attempts at transferring the original masters to a digital format produced.This 2001 compilation bucks the trend and its mastering allows the original Willie Mitchell productions to shine through.For anyone who loves John Newman but hasn't investigated the Reverend Green this is a compulsory purchase !

It doesn't get much better than Al Green, the king of soul! this album has hit after hit and is a must have for any fan or anyone who is interested in 70s soul, 18 classic tracks.

Diese CD ist für alle Freunde schwarzer Stimmen Pflicht, Punkt. Vorrausgesetzt natürlich, dass Ihr nicht bereits über eine eigene kleine Al Green Sammlung verfügt. Und die Anschaffung einer solchen ist die fast unweigerliche Folge des mehrmaligen Hörens dieser Scheibe.Seit dem Pulp Fiction Soundtrack ist auch vielen jüngeren Musikfreaks der Titel "Let's Stay Together" ein Begriff. Dabei ist wohl den wenigsten von ihnen bewusst, dass Al Green als wohl bester Soulsänger der 70er Jahre Dutzende qualitativ ebenbürtiger Nummern aufgenommen hat. Die vorliegende, immer noch erfreulich günstige CD ist dabei die vielleicht gelungendste, weil ansprechendste Zusammenstellung seiner Hits. Dankenswerterweise wird ausschließlich auf das von Willie Mitchell produzierte Hi Records Material zurückgegriffen (in späteren Jahren nahm der Sänger eine Reihe weitgehend zu vernachlässigenden Gospelplatten auf) und umfasst viele von Als stärksten Nummern. Der perfekte Einstieg in die süchtig machende Musik dieses fantastischen Sängers und der traumhaften Hi Rhythm Section, seiner Studioband (achtet alleine mal auf das unfassbar gute Schlagzeugspiel von Al Jackson)! Dies ist eine der wirklich wenigen CDs, derer ich auch nach sprichwörtlich hundertmaligem Hören noch nicht überdrüssig geworden bin. So, und jetzt denkt nicht länger nach und greift zu! You won't regret it - promise!

Adatto a chi vuole tornare alle sonorita' tipiche degli Stati Uniti degli anni '70.Un tuffo nel passato, insomma attraversoai brani di un buon autore.Nulla da eccepire da un punto di vista qualitativo:il cd suona davvero bene.
