Great book for education and fun
We used this when our chickens started hatching and the kids loved it. Was nice to have this to supplement what was going on in our real life!

This book is the perfect scientific explaination for my kindergartener
This book is the perfect scientific explaination for my kindergartener! It's very well thought out and and well written. The pictures have amazing detail and go a long way to describing the life cycle of a baby chicken! Even my husband and I learned a lot from this narrative! I added all the other books in this series to our wish list!

We've read this over and over again
Both my daughters, 5 and 8, really enjoyed this book. We've ordered a few of these Let's Read and Find Out books and this was, by far, the favorite. The illustrations of the chick inside the egg are great and they found the timeline of the chick's development fascinating. The chick can hear its mom inside the egg, the mom goes days without eating while waiting for her eggs to hatch, there is a waste sac inside the egg....full of interesting stuff. Just a warning...on one page, the book does explain that the rooster mates with the hen and fertilizes the egg with sperm.

Great Classroom Resource
Amy Sklansky's book is a great resource for my wife's early elementary classroom. She used it to supplement and explain a section about chickens when they actually incubated eggs in the classroom. The book was used as an introduction, then as a reference when she guided the children back to research answers to the questions they had. She recommends this book to any early elementary teachers wanting to teach a unit on chickens.

This book is a great resource for teaching kids about the life cycle of a chicken. However, I purchased it to be used as part of a music lesson that incorporates literacy.
