Siglent Technologies SDS804X HD 70 MHz 12-bit Digital oscilloscopes 4CH

It's insane what you can get in an Oscilloscope for under $500 in 2025... I also have the Rigol MSO 5000 and Siglent 1202X-E. I do use my scopes and all my test equipment every day for my work. The Rigol is great for what it is marketed to be, a grunty scope for an affordable price and it does that job just great, but it has a ridiculously noisy front end, especially when viewing any range under 1v. The Siglent SDS804X HD is a pencil thin trace and even down to 5mV it's far better than the Rigol, although I have not really used it for anything under 100mV range. The point is it really is low noise and what you get for your money these days is incredible. I'm glad these 2 companies came along, because before them test equipment was just way too expensive for individuals who want it for hobby or need it for work and are not part of a multi-million/billion-dollar company. Sure, I could be critical about some things, but c'mon this thing is $450 dollars!

Get used to the touch screen and multiple functions. That takes a few minutes. Then you have a great scope for the shop. 70 mHz is fine for most all of my Radio amateur use.

Spend a little extra money and get this 4 channel scope instead of the two channel version. Works great, does a lot of measurements and math on captured waveforms, can be put into dot mode to view signals above the Nyquist limit. You can control it from a PC. As others have mentioned, it's easily hacked up to 200 MHz BW. If you dig through the specs, you'll find the ENOB is 8.4 and SFDR is 35 dBc. I started working as an engineer in the 80s. Back then a scope with 1/10 this one's capabilities would have come on a cart, weighed 80 lbs, and cost two years' pay. I also bought SDG1032X AWG. The scope and AWG can talk to each other via USB so you can do things like frequency response sweeps (Bode plots), etc. Like the scope, the AWG is also hackable for higher BW.

First the good. Ethernet capable, works with a wireless WiFi dongle as well. Almost fully controllable remotely, nice html based gui to control. Really overall an amazing product. Not much bad, security for a network device is lacking, so technically it could probably be hacked by someone if they penetrated my network. Some functionality is really only available on the front panel, quickly zooming in, shifting the position of the capture, changing the trigger levels. It’s good enough to work, and I just stand up if I want to do something faster. Touch screen is nice, but I am using it almost exclusively remotely, and anything that can be touched can be clicked on remotely. The device can be hacked (not recommended) to improve the specs. It’s been software tiered, and you can improve the bandwidth. As a software guy using this to monitor signals, it’s not been needed so far. Overall, a really, really excellent value for the money. Whenever I do go independent I would buy one of these for myself, not just through an employer.

Have had this baby for six months now, very happy with it. Other reviewers have covered all the points I would have made -- other than fan noise; it is damned annoying -- but other than that, for an entry/mid-level DSO at $450, I can't imagine how anyone could be unhapy with it. Four chans, 70 (or 200, heh-heh) MHz, 2 Ms/s, 8.4b ENOB (12b res), decent native UI, fully IP remotable... What's not to like at $450? (Other than that fan...) In short: Like the Alka-Seltzer ad used to say "Try it, you'll like it."

The Siglent 8044X HD arrived on time and has worked well for my troubleshooting. Great features and functions. The color touch screen makes it very easy to use.

Great scope. the fast sample rate is super useful and for the price it is a great value. The remote interface over ethernet is very convenient.
