I fell off a roof with this on. I’m alive to write this review

Very robust, heavy, appears to work well
Build quality is excellent and the plastic outside appears to be very tough. Clips and hardware are well made. I’m very satisfied and feel this will keep me safe.

A very solidly made piece of safety equipment!
5 stars, 6 if I could! So, my husband decided it was time to redo the roof (because why not?). Naturally, he needed a solid fall protection system, and this TRSMIMA retractable lanyard turned out to be a total game-changer. Here’s the lowdown.First off, the swivel eye anchorage? Genius. The rotating top kept the lanyard from twisting up, which, trust me, made his job a lot smoother. No more untangling knots mid-project—it was as easy as just clipping in and going. And speaking of clipping in, the twist-lock carabiner was fantastic. It locked automatically and was easy to adjust when he needed to move around, plus it’s made of strong steel, so I wasn’t worried about it giving out.The self-locking snap hooks were another win. They’re rust-resistant and tough, capable of holding up to 5,000 pounds of force (which is good, because, you know, life is fragile). The hooks snapped into place, locking by themselves, making the setup easy to use and secure.I have to say, the galvanized steel cable was a nice touch—tough enough to withstand the weather, and with a 900 lb. arresting force, I felt a little better about my husband working several feet off the ground. Plus, it’s got a shock-absorbing system that would hopefully make any fall a little less, uh, traumatic. The housing is durable and built to survive extreme weather. And since we live in a place that sometimes feels like nature is testing the limits of “extreme,” this was reassuring. The textured grip handle made it easy to pull, even with gloves on.Now, let’s be real—this lanyard is definitely not for a “cherry picker” kind of scenario (unless you’re planning on tying off somewhere above your shoulders, of course). But for roof work, ladder climbing, and other high-up activities, it’s perfect. In conclusion: This lanyard worked really, really well. It’s reliable, a great value and peace of mind for the money, easy to use, and gave me peace of mind while my husband was up there risking life and limb. If you’re doing any kind of high-risk work like roofing, this is definitely a piece of safety gear you’ll want to have. Just remember to check that red load indicator—safety first, always!

Perfect match for my harness.
I have a Malta Dynamics Warthog harness but I needed a fall arrester to go along with it, as it didn't come with one. It's the perfect addition to my "working aloft" gear set.For those that aren't aware, this is a "Class 1" (ANSI/ASSP Z359.14-2021) fall arrester. There are 2 classes, and which class you get determines where your anchor point must be. For a class 1, the anchor point must be at or above the dorsal D-ring (the ring on your back). That means with this harness you don't want to tie off below your shoulders. So, if you're in a cherry picker at height, you can't latch this to the basket anchor point at your waist and expect to be protected. This is the incorrect fall arrester for this.If you want a fall arrester that you can anchor thusly, you need a "Class 2", which can be anchored above OR below the dorsal D-ring.Just make sure you get the proper type of fall arrester for the work you're doing and you should be good. As long as you use this with shoulder height and above anchoring, it will protect you. Below, and there is a huge risk. This is a fantastic Class 1 arrester, and I'm glad to have it as part of my kit. I strongly recommend it if you are in need of a Class 1 arrester.

Grrrreat free range
Allows for free range of travel but hard to hold yourself in place of your using it to work off of.
