Charlamagne Tha Godโthe self-proclaimed โPrince of Pissing People Off,โ cohost of Power 105.1โs The Breakfast Club , and โmedia godโ ( Forbes )โshares his eight principles for unlocking your God-given privilege in this New York Times bestseller. In Black Privilege , Charlamagne presents his often controversial and always brutally honest insights on how living an authentic life is the quickest path to success. This journey to truth begins in the small town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and leads to New York and headline-grabbing interviews and insights from celebrities like Kanye West, Kevin Hart, Malcolm Gladwell, Lena Dunham, Jay Z, and Hillary Clinton. Black Privilege lays out all the great wisdom Charlamagneโs been given from many mentors, and tells the uncensored story of how he turned around his troubled early life by owning his (many) mistakes and refusing to give up on his dreams, even after his controversial opinions got him fired from several on-air jobs. These life-learned principles include: -There are no losses in life, only lessons. -Give people the credit they deserve for being stupidโstarting with yourself. -Itโs not the size of the pond but the hustle in the fish. -When you live your truth, no one can use it against you. -We all have privilege, we just need to access it. By combining his own story with bold advice and his signature commitment to honesty no matter the cost, Charlamagne hopes Black Privilege will empower you to live your own truth. Review: Everyone should read this book. - I recently just finished the Audible version read by Charlamagne Tha God and let me tell you, this is easily going to be one of THE BEST books I have read, and I've read many. Self-help, or otherwise, this book had so much valuable information about getting through life told from a man who at best I knew from seeing him on VH-1 and listening to the Breakfast Club. I never thought much of him to be honest, not in a bad way. Okay, obviously, I am not a Black man. I'm Mexican-American, middle-aged with a herd of children and find myself at a point in life where I feel like everything is falling apart. As I listened to this book, I felt like I was sitting in a room and he was telling me what was wrong with me, how I got there, but most importantly that I had the power to get myself out and into a better situation. I was driving on the highway on my way home from work and his last chapter had me crying. The kind of cry you have when you thought you had run out of tears and where you feel it in the pit of your stomach. He put a new hope where I thought I had none. Was this book funny? HELL yes. I laughed so many times. I learned a great deal about Charlamagne and his life experiences and how he got to where he is today. One of the most important takeaways for me, there were many, but what really stood out to me was when he discussed finding your "However". This was powerful to me. You need to read the book to find out what it is, but I promise you, it is life changing. I'm doing what I've never done before with this book. I not only bought the audible version, I just ordered the hardcover for home and the kindle version so it's on my phone at all times. There are many parts of this book I want to read over to cement into my mind. Charlamagne, if you read your reviews, I hope you know that you have helped me in a very powerful way. I had been praying for guidance and God in his wisdom lead me to purchase your book and it is one that will be prominently on my bookshelf, in my headphones and on my iPhone. Not only that, you have opened up another world of books I need to look up, ones you mentioned in your book. Thank you. Review: Must Read! - Before reading this book, I was not very familiar with Charlamagne The God. Granted, I judged the name. However, I will read just about anything. This book had great reviews, and since he's a radio jockey, I bought the audio book assuming (very correctly) that he'd be the best person to tell his story. I was blown away by how much I enjoyed this book. He's funny, engaging, crude, and honest - all good things in my opinion. I'm debating as to whether or not my teenage son is ready for some of the more adult commentary, but he will read it soon. Charlamagne paints a vivid picture of South Carolina, his family life, his various missteps and how he's managed to maintain confidence in himself through his faith in God. It is an incredible reminder for those who feel they have lost their way or may be at a crossroads. You do not need to love hip hop or be comfortable with religion to read this. Something in this book will speak to you, and if you're smart, you'll reflect on something in your life that will make you better in life - personal or professional. He suggests we should all read books by people who are different from ourselves to learn more about the world; if this is not someone who is in your world, give it a shot. You will not be disappointed. If you know him from his radio work, you may come to like him more. I've recently heard some of his radio stuff and it makes a certain impression. This book is brilliant, well-written, honest, and very funny. You won't be disappointed. I've listened to the audio book twice and purchased the hardcover. :)

What are you waiting for???
You guys have to read #blackprivilege by @cthagod. It's life changing. This book is about how we ALL have the privilege to be who we are! I'm completely obsessed with this book and Charlamagne. I'll be totally honest, speaking my truth, I had no clue who he was until I heard him promote this book on @z100newyork during an interview on @elvisduranshow. I couldn't stop listening. I was pulled in because he is beyond captivating and insightful. And this dude speaks HIS truth, always. And I'm so grateful to know that speaking your truth is acceptable. It doesn't make you a d-bag, or b*tch, or negative, or mean. It means you're speaking your honest wholehearted feelings and truths. He wrote that he's called a de-motivational speaker because he speaks his truth. To that I say - keep doing your think Charlamagne. It's not de-motivational to be real, honest, and authentic. THAT in itself is motivational. Some people don't like to hear the truth. Some prefer to live in a fantasy land. Some people think they know all the answers. But those people are never changing, growing, learning, expanding their knowledge, or living their dreams. I've learned so much from this books and I can't wait to start Principle 4. I'm so glad I was running late for work and heard the interview with @elvisduran because if I didn't I wouldn't be realizing how to find gratitude in all of the good and bad experiences; I wouldn't be realizing that what are perceived mistakes, are truly lessons; I wouldn't be realizing that passion beats all other choices. Thank you. So far I've laughed, I've cried, I've had ah-ha moments, I've been shocked, I've been motivated, and I've felt as though @cthagod is sitting in my meditation room with me just talking and sharing his knowledge with me. You don't want to miss out. Grab a copy fast. He's a NY Times bestseller because of this book. And he deserves it. #inspiration #motivation #blackprivilege #opportunitycomestothosewhocreateit #cthgod #reading #quietmoments #book #bookrecommendation #lessons #principles #learning #growing #hopeful #mindfulness #speakyourtruth #throatchakra

Wow... Even better than I expected... Charlemagne do your thing!
Easily read this book in 3 days... I knew the book was going to be good but honestly did not think it was going to be this good! Charlemagne managed to touch on almost all the points ppl may struggle with on this journey called life especially black ppl. He manged to relate his points to actual events in his life and for spiritual ppl who believe in karma, negative energies, and how this universe works... this book will fit right in with your line of thinking... I canโt believe the reviews saying they couldnโt get with the book because of grammar and vulgarity smh... Are you serious?! Ppl get caught up on the little details just so they donโt have to open they mind to the full message. I honestly think it may be a cop out for what he says about white ppl in the book but this is CHARLAMAGNE! Heโs gonna tell u how he honestly feels PERIOD! This book should be read by all high school kids across the country. He pushes nothing but honesty and positivity. The jewels he drops are invaluable in this day and age and Iโm so proud of his work and ready for another book from him. This book definitely goes down as one of the favs!

Really interesting look in to Charlagmane's life
It started off as a simple autobiographical look at a celebrities life, to a book of real sound advice supported by pretty legit experience from the author. Definitely was impressed. There are some parts that are in the book that help compound a point or lesson being made, but aren't very necessary. As a person who has listened to Cthagod on each of his platforms (radio, podcast, and TV), I noticed many stories that he has told several times. That being said, knowing the depth of some of the stories and the revelation of others, surprised me. Definitely helped give me a better perspective to the thought process and decision making of Charlamagne. The book is worth the read

and how they worked to be better in life
Do you want an autobiography where the author doesn't hold themself up as high and mighty? Do you want one where they talk about the mistakes they made, and how they worked to be better in life? This is the book you want. There is ONE weird part in there very early on and I recommend you just get through those few pages because the whole thing is gold. The advice here is great especially if you are young (I'm not). It's great if you're old. If you walk away from this book having learned absolutely nothing, you must have a perfect life and must be mentoring people who have similar perfect lives. CTG pulls no punches, not even when he is punching himself. He is critical about his mistakes, and not too braggy about his successes, most of which came through hard work and not taking the easy road AFTER screwing up or getting fired. Yeah, he talks about times he got fired, even when it was his own fault, and a one point said that he was surprised that one job didn't fire him sooner. Definitely a book to pick up, and it reads quickly.

Great Read - Black Privilege
Black Privilege isnโt your typical marketing book, self-help book. Lenard, the author uses very unorthodox language to help the reader understand, and to reach a certain audience; but I truly believe whatever your age, social status, background, etc you can take something from this book to carry with you forever. While reading to book, there were certain things I felt like the author was speaking directly to me, I will mention a few of these point in the next few paragraphs. In chapter 2, titled, PYP (Pick Your Passion, Poison, or Procrastination.) Lenard discusses that there are 3 Pโs that you can choose in life. Passion which leads to prosperity, Poison which leads to pain, and procrastination which leads to nowhere because youโre waiting for success to find you. I love the way he broke down his success to its simplest form for the reader to relate. When choosing career path you need to be hungry and passionate about what you want to achieve. You also need to mindful of picking something youโre passionate about a not what someone else decided for you. This could be the biggest pitfall and lead to a poisonous decision, of following someone else dream. You should never wait on opportunity because you will be waiting for a long time. Another one of my favorite chapters was, chapter 4, There Are No Losses, Only Lessons. The main point of this chapter is, you should not care about any perceived losses in life as long as you learn something from them. โAlways look for the lesson in any situation you think didnโt go your way. And most importantly, understand that your plan isnโt necessarily also Godโs plan for you.โ( McKelvey) In the marketing world, this reminds me to never give up when someone doesnโt see your potential or vision. Always take something from these lessons, and make yourself better. After reading through all 8 chapters, this wasnโt a single point I didnโt agree with. Every chapter was so well written and broken to the simplest for everyone to understand! The books main point is that there is Privilege in being Black, and how to access your privilege. I love that there is a book that was written for me, in terms and language that I can understand. But I canโt stress enough, how important this book is and that everyone can learn and take something away from this. Iโve followed the author for at least 10 years, and Iโve seen him put his chapters in use. Whether it was on his radio show, TV shows, podcast, etc. Iโve seen him lead by example to prove and drive his point home. This was a great read and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Highly Recommended for its Raw Honesty and Practical Beliefs
As a fan, this book served as insight to the views that harness Charlamagnes appraoch to his craft. This level of honesty he posses should be upheld by more people in todays society. His upbringing is parallel to many individuals from urban and rural backgrounds. However, his beliefs that have propelled his acfions to become the person who he is today are that of which many of should subscribe too. This book is written in an honest and yet harshly consumable way in which the novice reader can consume and yet still reap the reward of so many life changing practical jewels to apply on their journey. As an African American I say this a must read for urban youth but also for anyone of that matter seeking a practical approaches to day to day life supported by the raw experiences of the author who overcame many adversities to be able to share his testimony and have built a platform that has been so influential in bringing information from various aspects to the forefront. Awesome book!

Insightful and Inspiring
The trials and tribulations this man went through are only but a fraction of the man he is. The lessons learned along the way are what's made him into who he is today and the knowledge he shares through those trying times are priceless (although you did pay for it). I salute Charlamagne Tha God for writing such an immersive book and thank him for the wisdom he shared with us. I highly recommend this book for youths (or anyone) who aren't where they want to be in life. Put the weed in the bag.

Clear writing. Good advises for personal growth.
My book for 2019. The author is not the most loved in the radio world in the US. Some love him some hate him. But the stories and lessons he give us in his simple writing is amazing. I really advise this book for people who want to learn and grow in what they want to do in their lives professionally or personally.
