A good concept that fails on quality control
I read all of the positive reviews on the Kamp-Rite Double Tent Cot and decided to make my purchase. I wanted to hold off on a review until I had the opportunity to use it. I took it camping for the first time this week and was disappointed in the bad quality control and poor materials used in its manufacture. The only thing I can figure is that I was sold a second (a tent that failed quality control). The no-seeum mesh was not folded and sewn correctly on one side entry. When sewing in the zipper in one side-entry, they sewed right across the nylon zipper part itself for five inches, making it impossible to open the zipper on that side of the tent. The the clip of the leg strap was sewn incorrectly and in the wrong direction. As soon as I put strain on it, the sewing ripped out of the strap, rendering it useless (the other three straps were sewn in the correct direction). On initial setup, the thread in the upper corner seams started to pull out. At the apex of the tent are two small ties, supposedly for hanging a light, except when I hung a light, the seam they were sewn into started to tear out.So, what's the problem with the seams and sewing? Simple answer... They used cheap, thin, cotton thread in all of the seams instead of a decent quality nylon bonded tent thread typically used in nylon fabric tent manufacturing (the Kamp-Rite does use denier nylon fabric). Maybe they were out of the good stuff the day they made my tent. Irrespective, the tent I received fails quality control and quality manufacturing on many points.Aside from the above, I really think this concept can be great if Kamp-Rite would give more attention to using quality materials and attention to detail.

Double TentCot Surprise!!
I purchased this tentcot for myself as a second sleeping arrangement. You see, I am a heavy snorer and my wife doesn't get any sleep if she sleeps with me. I am a senior citizen who has been married 37 years, and I plan on keeping it that way. I am also disabled and didn't realize just how heavy this monster is, it's not really a one man job. It arrived, and I unpacked set it up in our living room. It is pretty straight forward, and if you have any tent camping experience then you won't have any trouble. Like many other reviews, the included instructions won't be of much help. My tent came with one plastic leg unattached from the frame, but was a quick fix using a pop revit. As with other owners of this tentcot, I also don't like the center bar down the middle. I used a piece of 3/4 pipe foam insulation on the bar, and it has helped some. I was going to slit a pool noodle, but decided that might cause too big of a bulge. I also purchased a Teton XXL camp pad that has also helped with the center bar problem. I plan to make another modification to my tentcot. I'm going to attach some Velcro to the rainfly door to keep it open when needed. Being disabled I also will be using a lightweight aluminum dolly to transport it from the van to my campsite. All the shortcomings aside, Happy Camping!

Not a good product.
I ordered this tent due to what seemed like good reviews. Yes it is simple to set it up, but that's it. I know there was questions about being able to have sex in the thing but unless your a twig and your partner is twig there is no way you will be able to do comfortably. There is a big bar going down the center of the tent, and on either side you sink way down until there is someone else laying on the other side. Once that happens though, the canvas pushes up into your back. Also, the Zippers are junk. The first night we struggled with them being able to zip closed. Adjusted the Velcro holding the tent onto the cot and it helped, but the seams were trying to tear away from the zipper. Seconded night, we spent a good 10 minutes trying to get one side closed- finely did and decided to not open that side again or it would have torn. The other side, we spent about 5 minutes trying to get it to zip up. The rain fly wouldn't zip past a certain point, so we finally gave up on that one then had to work at the other two zippers, and after several times of the zipper busting open, (door and screen door) we could finally get them to close. The size of the tent is nice in theory, but it is so compact that your sleeping bags get soaked from touching the sides of the tent, the cot underneath you gets wet from I guess the wet air flowing through the underside of the tent, and condensation or something collects and doesn't vent out even though we had the windows open a bit to prevent that so it drips on your head all night. I would not recommend this product at all. I would get a regular tent or a bigger pop up tent with cots in it.

so disappointed.
Do not use on a hot and rainy night...too hot inside without opening a flap... if using the rain cover you can't get any air inside without popping off one end of the cover....if it comes off you are getting soaked. We were hot..so we lifted one corner of the rain flap for air...rain pooled in the lifted cover and spilled all at once into the tent cot soaking us and everything inside. Also it was very uncomfortable. I was so excited about using the tent cot...so disappointed.
