Making Wire Jewelry: 60 Easy Projects in Silver, Copper & Brass

I have made serveral projects from this book. I love that the diagrams are full size, so that I can hold my piece up to the page to see how accurate my work is. The photos are clear and useful. It also shows how to use each technique for several styles of jewelry, so you can have matching earrings or whatever to go with a necklace or bracelet. The book does not spend too much time on tools and materials, just enough so that you can make good choices. If you are just starting with wire, this is a great book to start with. You might want a more indepth book later, but this one will get you creating right away.

I am wanting to learn how to make wire jewelry for friends and family. I want to be able to do intricate designs, so this book is a stepping stone in the right direction.

I have been enjoying the progression they lay out for developing your skill level in this book. The type of wire suggested can be difficult to work with. I have looked in other books I have to see what might be better...looking at half-hard materials instead of the 16 gauge that has been listed in the materials used for various projects. It takes some hand strength that is difficult at times. I also gave myself time to do these projects over a several day period. Not a project to complete in one sitting. This gave me some flexibility and being able to relax as I learned. If I made a mistake, I just try again. Lovely pieces of jewelry come out of the examples here. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time to learn how to do the projects. This makes it so much more relaxing and enjoyable. The end result can be terrific!

This is a great example book on what your able to do with wire of all types. It is amazing the designs that you can come up with. I think this is one of the best I have to show you the beginning steps to designing with wire. The ins and outs of types of wire and all you need to get stated correctly. A great book.

This is an older book, absolutely full of great ideas, procedures, and alternatives. I see these design elements in very current and modern jewelry work. Sometimes, just because it is older, does not make it out of style. A change of wire, a change of size or orientation is all it takes to appear new and exciting. This a a great instructional book.

Teenagers would have a ball with these techniques. However, I found the jewelry designs too simplistic & not really something I might wear. I have been silversmithing for a number of years & was interested in shaping & wrapping wire techniques to add to my designs, but these were way too simplistic. Pictures for wrapping steps were hand drawn, but provided clear instructions. Ther were a few color photos of fabricated jewelry.

This is a good instruction book with lots of examples. I read it from cover to cover then tried many of the ideas during practice what inspired some ideas and designs of my own. That is what these books are intended to do: give you some basic skills so that you can go off on your own.
