PADI Diver's Blue Log and Training Record (70047) Rev. 3.0

A great training manual put out by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). A manual with useful information about the sport of scuba diving. Copious pages are included for the personal details of one's own scuba dives. There is also information about marine environmental matters. It was also very affordable, and is recommended for the novice diver.

I recently completed a GroupOn Scuba Certification where the $200 course fee included - In class instruction - Rental gear for 2 weekends - 1 for training in a high school pool - 2 for the 4 open water dives the following weekend What they didn't tell you was that they also charged an extra $150 for a kit that consisted of: - PADI Diver's Blue Log and Training Record (70047) Rev. 3.0 - PADI Student Record File for Scuba Divers - PADI Open Water Diver Manual with Table - PADI eRDPML Electronic Recreational Dive Planner Training Materials for Scuba - Promate Inflatable Safety Tube Sausage Signal Marker- 4 Ft Save your money and just get this dive log (or another if you are picky) and the Student Record File. I was able to borrow the manual from a friend that had passed the course and overall ended up saving $130! After the cert, you will end up never using the manual, nor the electronic dive planner as all dive watches will have their own more accurate timing. When you go diving with a dive master, you will also always follow their time table so even if you don't end up purchasing or borrowing a watch, it usually will not matter as the dive masters are always really conservative with air usage and underwater time. Oh yeah, and they will always have the area marked off so you won't need the signal marker either. But if you did, you would want a big / better one regardless.

A must have for old school divers like me who don't use computer software to log.

As with all PADI official stuff, this log is as much about trying to get you to buy more PADI courses and equipment as it is about actually logging your dives. The book does contain all the pages and paperwork you'd ever need for your training records, and enough dive log pages for quite a few dives (I didn't count). Unfortunately, the pages aren't perferated so you can't easily tear them out to use with a dive-log binder without putting some force into it and possible ripping the pages.

Great book - over priced

I don't know how much more I can say. I prefer this PADI dive log because I'm PADI certified, but I'm pretty sure you'll find pretty much the same thing in a third party dive log or a NAUI dive log. It doesn't matter all too much.

Big, easy to follow dive chart recorder. Plot exactly the way PADI teaches you. The water resistant pages are a nice touch. I filled one already with dives I took on a few week-long dive trips. You won't be disappointed if you're a #'s geek like me.

This was on my sons Christmas list, he is pleased with it also bought folder which is great and very durable

As described and on time

My only gripe is that it has only a handful of pages for actually logging dives apart from training and specialty dives. That means carrying this log book and a proper dive log with you which adds unnecessary weight when travelling.
