Tough little machine!
Got this for my wife. She loves the nostalgic look and the fact that it’s heavy duty means it can sew heavy canvas or leather without breaking a sweat👍🏻

Great machine suppose to get hard caseaccording to the serial number when registering it 4 warranty
The media could not be loaded. I love this machine!!! This is the 3rd singer heavy duty sewing machine I’ve gotten over the last 4 years. I sew leather and burn through machine and just didn’t feel like I had the right one. The first one was the heavy duty 4452 I loved that machine as well but I had issues with it and had to return it. Since it was purchased on Walmart online (3rd party seller) I could return it but they wouldn’t replace it. At Walmart I could only get the 44 S heavy duty and was in need of a sewing machine asap so that’s what I went with. I’ve had it for 4 years and will continue to use it as well however this baby is my new favorite it cuts through the leather with no problem. I had problems with the motor strength with the 44S at the seems of leather when sewing patches on and in thick areas of fabric. However when I scanned the card inside the box to register my machine for the warranty through singer. It came up as the Singer HD500 w/ hard case. I didn’t get a hard case with it?? So I’m contacting the site to ask why it didn’t come with the hard case it’s suppose to according to the serial number and will contact singer as well. Will update you with the results

Workhorse it is….
I sew a lot of thick fabrics and leather tote bags, which put a lot of pressure on my lovely Bernina.I went thru far too many broken needles.I decided to buy a simple workhorse that didn’t break the bank. After reading many reviews I decided on the singer HD500Things I like. It does go thru multiple layers of fabric fairly easily. Things I don’t like, I’m sorry to say it feels a bit cheep. And I guess well it’s because it is. Again $350 is not a lot in the world of sewing. But to be more specific ,The bobbin is so fussy to get in and out. The foot is in the way, I feel all thumbs. It’s terribly loud, unlike the reviews say., which I actually can handle if it didn’t feel like it was shaking apart.I think I’ve been spoiled by my Bernina.I will keep using it for constructing heavy duty tote bags. But won’t use it for anything else. Also I hate they want you to download the manual. I found a printed copy of one that I bought separately.I give this machine a solid C

It’s okay
I actually love this machine. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because this product is very misleading on how it’s described. It’s not made out of a heavy duty metal as advertised. It is all plastic. Sorry to tell you you’re paying $100 more for some painted plastic. If I had known this I would have went with the white one instead. My boyfriend talked me into testing it out and so I did and have no desire to return it😂 you would think this would have come with a nicer cover rather then something that looks like it came from dollar tree.

Easy to Set Up and Quiet! I Love This Sewing Machine!
I am glad I decided to buy the Singer Classic HD500. Love it's retro look!More importantly, it is really easy to thread, and winding the bobbin was a breeze. I have not had problems with thread breaking like some have mentioned.. And the foot pedal works well and has a wide range from barely moving to high speed and it handles the fabric well at both speeds. This machine is much quieter than any others I have, too. While the outside body is plastic, the inside is metal and it is heavy so it stays put when sewing.Folks have mentioned the inconvenience of not having a full manual shipped with the machine. Some have mentioned they had to pay for it, but it is readily available on Singer's website at no cost.. Since I can't include the link in my review, maybe Amazon should have one in the listing?Singer has created the imprint of a ruler at the bottom front of the machine, which would be helpful if you could actually read it. It could be much improved if it were enhanced with gold metallic paint to match the rest of the machine. That is what I did and it is much more usable. I've included photos of before and after to see how it turned out for me.
