Nice helmet.
Super comfortable helmet. The slipping inside MIPS protection seems like a great way to protect necks from injuries. Ventilation seems good but it’s not super hot here in PNW. Love the mag latch buckle! Super easy to fasten and secure but also easy to unlatch.

Love this helmet!
Love the artwork! Fits like a dream! Fancy chin latch that is an upgrade from traditional helmets. Good airflow. I feel protected. Plenty of visibility. Light weight.

High protection, good comfort, but a big helmet
This is a high quality helmet. Just remember that this is a full on downhill helmet, so its big. Ive only used it for races because I push a lot harder then just going to the bike park. I have a smaller helmet for that, which is also a bell and is also great quality.

Fits great , comfortable to wear all day.
Comfortable , good ventilation, and the magnet clasp is super convenient. Haven’t “tested” it yet but it feels well built and strong enough to hold up in an unintended dismount.

Bell Sanction 2 DLX MIPS vs Giro Insurgent Spherical - Bell wins
Short: The Bell is better (for me) for the chin strap clip and venting. The Giro looks better and seems a bit better made but the chin clip is awful. Both helmets are very similar, they have a MIPS-like technology and they weigh about he same. My head is 59cm and the XL or XL/XXL fit best. The Bell M fit’s OK but is a bit tight. The Giro comes with 2 different chin cushions with is a plus for people with narrow chin. The Bell XL is 1204gr, the Giro 1183gr on my scale. The Bell is available without MIPS, it looks very similar but is less expensive. What made me go for the Bell is the chin strap closure clip, it’s magnetic and just clips in place, easy to open on close even with gloves. The Giro has a motorcycle-style 2-loop clip and a button to attach the hanging straps. This is difficult to use, very fiddly and takes a long time, does not work with gloves. I would probably not take it off in the chair lift. The Bell has vents under the visor that channel over the head and to the back, it also has a vent on the top. The Giro visor vents are smaller and only vent the forehead, there is no vents on top and the back are smaller. Since the Giro MIPS works with a foam shell there is much less venting directly on the head. The Bell has 2 large openings on front, these could catch bugs, and sticks and debris in a crash. The Giro has a grid over the front vent, I like this better. Overall the better vetting of the Bell was the other reason I went with it, it’s hot here in the summer. The Giro looks better, at least for the colors I had. The molding around the face and and bottom is better made. The Bell molding has a seam on the top of the face opening which looks very cheap. The Bell visor moves much more and will be better to push goggles under.

Field tested. Good thing I hit the track head first!
Scenario. Old guy who's ridden bicycles and motorcycles for 60 years. My three-year-old grandchild is obsessed with BMX racing. I'm starting to do BMX racing to support him and share the experience while getting some good HIIT workouts. Field tested. 60 years of riding means I’ve had a few gnarly crashes. Fortunately I know how to tuck and roll. Injuries have been limited to scrapes and bruises. I’ve never had full on head contact, so have never put a helmet to the test. Until last night. At the BMX track, I was avoiding another rider and hit a jump too fast and out of balance. The front wheel twisted on impact and I went flying over the bike. My head hit first. In one of those moments in which time seems to stop, I was thinking, if I didn’t have this helmet on, this pavement would break my jaw and splatter my brain. Lots of scrapes and bruises on the knee and elbows, a sore shoulder. Also destroyed my favorite shirt and ripped my pants. But my neck, head and face are unscathed. Saved by the BELL. The impact pulverized the visor screws and dirt impacted onto the helmet. After brushing it off, the helmet looks like new. The visor is also in good shape. I just need to get some new screws to secure the mount. Product thoughts. This is a substantial piece of equipment—deceptively lightweight. The MIPS system took a moment to get used to. I could feel it working as my head hit the ground. The helmet shifts around your head, which provides additional protection. The helmet has 14 air channels, providing plenty of airflow without sacrificing helmet integrity. Riding in triple digit temps, the airflow is critical. I ended up with the DLX because the Large BELL Sanction 2 helmet I bought hardly fit over my head. I've had a lifetime of large Bell helmets, but that BELL Sanction 2 was an eye-popping squeeze, even after I did the tape measure. While returning it, I noticed that this version of the Large BELL Sanction 2 DLX MIPS helmet was on sale for less than the regular BELL Sanction 2, so I ordered an XL. Perfect fit. As a bonus to me, there's sufficient space near the temples for my glasses to easily slip on and off. I like the muted design compared to the other options in the same series. That may be why this version is priced at $50 below other options. Having bad taste can save a lot of money. ;) The price on the seller's site is the same as on the BELL website. So, if you're more comfortable dealing directly with the manufacturer, that might be an option. I'm not a fan of huge logos on my equipment and clothes. If BELL wants to pay me to be a billboard for them, I'll gladly take it and proudly wear their logo. Until then, I'll do some cosmetic modifications to brush out the logos painted on the side of the helmet. The bottom line is that this saved my noggin and is well worth the price.
