Perfect Mini Switch
I recently added the NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch to my household network setup, and it has proven to be an excellent investment, especially for those in need of extra ports. The design of the switch is compact and sleek, making it ideal for placing on a desktop or mounting on a wall. The build quality feels robust, and the metal casing is a nice touch, ensuring durability. It's small enough to fit in tight spaces but still provides the functionality needed for a modern home network. I stuck mine underneath my desk with some command strips.Initially, when I used the switch directly out of the box without any IP configuration, I noticed some issues with network lag, especially during high-traffic periods. This was particularly evident when streaming high-definition content or transferring large files across the network. After assigning an IP address to the device, the performance issues were resolved. Configuring the IP was straightforward through the web-based management interface. Once configured, the network lag disappeared, and the switch performed flawlessly. The data transfer rates are excellent, maintaining gigabit speeds without any noticeable slowdowns. The Smart Managed feature adds a level of control and customization that is very beneficial for fine-tuning the network settings according to specific needs.Setting up the switch is a breeze. The plug-and-play functionality allows for immediate use, but I highly recommend assigning an IP address to avoid potential performance issues. The web-based management interface is user-friendly and provides various options for managing and optimizing network performance, including VLAN setup, QoS, and more. This switch is perfect for any household that requires additional Ethernet ports. Whether you need to expand your network to connect more devices or enhance your home office setup, this switch does the job admirably. It has proven to be particularly useful for connecting multiple devices without compromising network speed and reliability. The NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Easy Smart Managed Essentials Switch is an exceptional product for expanding your home network. It’s highly recommended to assign an IP address to the switch to avoid any initial performance issues. Once configured, it delivers consistent and high-speed network performance, making it an invaluable addition for anyone looking to add more Ethernet ports with smart management capabilities. The combination of robust build quality, ease of use, and excellent performance makes this switch a top choice for home networking needs.I highly recommend this switch to anyone needing extra ports for their household network. Whether you're connecting gaming consoles, streaming devices, or home office equipment, this switch will meet your needs effectively and reliably.

Solid value for the money.
Solid little gigabit switch with just enough “smart” features to be useful.Out of the box it works exactly like a normal unmanaged switch — plug it in and it just works. If you want VLANs or basic QoS, those are available through the web interface without being overly complicated. The one thing I’d recommend right away is updating the firmware. The update itself is easy, but the file you download comes as a ZIP and you need to extract it first — the switch only accepts the .bin file. That tripped me up for a minute.Accessing the web interface was straightforward once I checked my router’s DHCP list for the IP. There’s a Windows discovery tool, but I didn’t need it.Performance has been solid and it’s completely silent. The metal housing feels decent for the price and it runs cool.ProsWorks immediately as a plug-and-play switchStable gigabit performanceSilent (no fan)Simple web interfaceUseful features like VLANs without being complicatedConsFirmware updates are manual (no automatic update)Firmware download requires extracting a ZIP file firstDiscovery tool is Windows-onlyBottom lineIf you want a reliable basic switch with a little extra control when you need it, this is a great option. It works perfectly as a “dumb” switch but gives you room to grow later.

Reliable backbone for busy office setup
I recently added this managed network switch to my office to handle a mix of PCs, a laptop, a couple of game consoles, and even smart TVs—and it’s been an absolute game changer.Performance & Stability: The switch keeps everything running smoothly without any noticeable lag or bottlenecking. Gaming and streaming run flawlessly, even when other devices are pulling heavy traffic.Management Features: Having a managed switch means I can set up VLANs, prioritize traffic, and monitor network performance. Being able to give priority to my work devices during the day while letting the consoles and TVs run off lower priority settings is a real advantage.Build & Setup: Solid metal housing, fan isn’t loud, and plenty of ports. The web interface took a little learning curve, but once I got through it, the control was worth it.Future-Proofing: With both gigabit speed and flexible management options, this switch ensures my office network can expand without a problem.Overall, this is more than just a plug-and-play switch—it gives me the stability and control to keep a busy office (and entertainment setup) running at full speed. Highly recommended if you’ve outgrown a basic unmanaged switch and want something that can scale with you.

good switch for the price
Works as expected, speed appears to be as advertised. Only issue I had was with an older Canon Laser image-maker. For some odd reason, the printer wouldn’t show up on the network connected directly to the Gigabit switch. I ran the printer to a small unmanaged tp switch and plugged that into the Gs308E and the printer now is recognized on the network. IDK why exactly but it works.

Absolutely great switch solved network link issues between router and PC
This ethernet switch has been absolutely great and solved significant network link issues between my Rogers router and PC. I was experiencing inconsistent connectivity and slow data transfer rates before integrating this switch into my network setup. After connecting the switch, my network performance improved dramatically. The link is now stable and reliable, providing the gigabit speeds I need. The switch is easy to set up with no additional configuration required. It works seamlessly with my existing network infrastructure and the Rogers router.
