Big Tings

For a fan of Skindred and newcomer alike, this album continues to show the skill that I have come to expect from Skindred. Many new favorite songs, including the title track. Hope for more like this from the future

Big Tings is different, but it's the good kind of different; the kind that keeps you coming back for more. The songs are more upbeat and catchy, yet still carry that heavy tone that Skindred is known for. I really dig it!

I am really enjoying this new music from Skindred. Their sound is a little different on this CD compared to the previous releases but they are still fantastic! This is a collection of music that makes you want to get up and move. I think this is my favorite release by them right now.

I am glad I can still find good music in this season of mediocrity.

Work out album of the year

A bit different then other Skindred releases but good.

Auch auf ihrem siebten Album ziehen Skindred konsquent ihr Ding durch, was heißt: Die Waliser vermischen aufgepeppten Nu Metal mit Reggae/Dub/Dancehall. "Big Tings" knüpft nahtlos an der Vorgänger "Volume" (2015) an, was bedeutet, dass es auch wieder ein paar elektronische Elemente gibt, aber zum Glück nicht so viele wie noch auf "Kill the Power" (2014). Jedoch ist auch der Reggae-Anteil reduzierter als in der Vergangenheit. Nichtsdestotrotz: Im Vordergrund steht schlicht und einfach der Spaß, die meisten Songs laden mindestens zum Mitwippen ein. Den einen oder anderen Ohrwurm spendieren Skindred auf "Big Tings", angenehm ist auch die Abwechslung, die die ruhigeren Nummern "Tell Me" (ein Album-Highlight) und "Saying It Now" (eine waschechte Ballade - hört man von Skindred nicht alle Tage) ins Gesamtbild bringen. Leider haben sich mit "Alive" und "Broken Glass" zwei Leerlauf-Nummern eingeschlichen, der Rest kann dafür aber überzeugen. Trotzdem bleiben die ganz großen Highlights, die "Roots Rock Riot" (2007) und "Union Black" (2011) zu bieten hatten, aus - insgesamt geht "Big Tings" aber immer noch locker als gut durch.

Skindreds sound has slightly altered for their new album, some of the heaviness has gone, but the big choruses and mix of genres has remained.Track Machines shows them doing a classic rock style song with a big riff, whereas Thats My Jam has a dance pop style to it, both songs are excellent and show that even though Skindred have ranges in styles, their songwriting is consistantly good.The albums style overall is rock/reggae though with various twists and turns in between, theres a couple duff tracks here, but most of it is fantastic stuff.

A good album,tho one song is a remake of an old one, a good one,but still a redo.Only downer is that it's not as varied as they have in the past,there used to be reggae,then dub step,the metal,rock etcThis is more a general rock album,with the minor odd ragga bit.All there other releases are on my jukebox under a genre called "fook knows" - this would just be hard rock,which is a shame.Good,but it is a grower,initially woulda said 3 stars,but after about ten listens,and played LOUD,I'd say a 4 is fair

Skindred schlagen auf dieser Scheibe einen Weg in Richtung Heavey Pop ein,sehr schmiesige Songs,gefällige Refrains...irgendwie sogar Radiotauglich..Mit einer schönen Prise RocknRoll..Könnte man ruhig öfter gehen...Textlich etwas nebulös...Höre sie trotzdem gerne ,nachwievor sehr energiereiche aufgeladene Mucke mit einem grandiosen Sänger..Hätte als Produzent einigen Songs mehr kanten und Ecken verpasst...war aber gerade andersweitig gebunden...Beim nächsten Mal wird es sicher wieder rauer...2-3 absolute Highlights sind aber so oder so meiner Meinung nach .zu endecken..mindestens...
