Can this hard drive be used for a PS4?

It can certainly store PS4 games and be connected up to it to play them. If you're upgrading the storage of the PS4 internally, then an external hard drive will be needed to download everything onto while you do the upgrade with a suitable hard drive.

Can you save dvds to it from your laptop?

Short answer yes, it's just a hard disk nothing more nothing less. Mines been working on our smart TV as the buffer for live pause and recording programs so performance shouldn't be an issue either as there's been no stuttering or delays with playing back from the disk.

Is this device compatible for use between both a macbook and windows pc? or will it only function with one or the other?

Iam not sure as I only bought it 4 my laptop. The device comes with a USB cable, so if the macbook comes with a USB support, it might work. It might b Worth reading wat the instructions say, b4 buying. eg iam using windows 10. The device may say, works with windows 10 but not Mac Iam not sure myself without looking @ the instructions. Hope this helps
