Brilliant band and excellent songs on this collection. I gave it as a present.
I chose this rating as that's what was passed onto me from my daughter. She loves the album and still listens to it a lot.

Reach For The Sun
Welcome The Dangerous Summer as the newest member to the Baltimore, Maryland scene. The Dangerous Summer play a brand of emotion-tinged, rock, but provide the same vocal execution as later The Starting Line albums with lyrical themes tending to center on personal growth and struggle as songwriter AJ Perdomo poured his demons into the songs and throws them in your face. What The Dangerous Summer does isn't the most original thing ever, but it's astoundingly well executed. Reach for the Sun is an interesting album title as the band tries to do just that. They have made a record full to the brim with vocal harmonies, layers of atmospheric guitars and pounding drums so remarkably intricate that it's hard not to be impressed. The band sets the bar with the first track "Where I Want To Be" and continue to establish themselves as the record progresses. "Never Feel Alone" is an uplifting and inspiring track after a record with songs focused on facing one's personal struggles with lyrics such as "I plan to do my very best/to let you know that you're in my head" and "I've been pushed around before/and I've felt the burn from every inch of my heart/but it's worth it to never feel alone". Fans of the genre looking for something with substance and lasting value will appreciate The Dangerous Summer though Perdomo's gruff delivery and the smooth sheen of the music do get tiresome after multiple listens. The Dangerous Summer's Reach for the Sun is a certainly promising debut and could be considered the band's pivotal work. While the record contains 11 tracks of filler-free material there are only 4 discernible standout tracks worth coming back to (one being the re-worked "The Permanent Rain"). It's clear that this album wasn't recorded with sing alongs in mind. This is not meant to tarnish this album as it is an unbelievably honest and varied record and is a great soundtrack to summer nights.

who the hell are these??? (a 14 year olds review)
wow what a phenomenal band these are!!! after coming accros there first non-recorded 4 song album "there is no such thing as science" that got the attention of hopeless records company these have matured quickly.the dangerous summer's first album "if you could only keep me alive" the album that showed great potential, witch potentail has been released on reach for the sun. The dangerous summer are my faverate band at the moment.in my opinion this album is so good it chalenges HOT FUSS (KILLERS) EYES OPEN (SNOW PATROL) MY PRIVATE NATION(TRAIN)JUST ENOUGH EDUCATION (STEREOPHINICS) ETC all albums than contain great songs though-out the album reach for the sun is up there too. the permanent rain has the best entrance to a song ever!!! unfortuantly this band is unknown, but when the next album comes round its going to be so big i know Britan has a lot of time for this type of music ive liked many bands before they were massive like nickleback before rockstar kings of leon before only by the night and these are going to make it (if youre a kings= of leon fan buy this!!!)
