It makes perfect sense...
If your earlier version of the Xbox 360 has stopped working, either because the DVD Drive has failed or by the infamous Red Ring Of Death, both common occurrences, this disk-less version makes perfect sense. The Hard Disk Drive in your old machine comes out and fits perfectly in this new one. Which in turn saves a bucketful of money and you don't have to reinstall all your games and settings because they're all still there on your disk.* As far as I can see it, the Xbox 360 is for games, and the Xbox One is for TV and Media. If you've already got Cable, Freeview or Sky, then you don't need the media centre Xbox One so much (although I should mention, if you're short of HDMI connections on your TV, the Xbox One has a facility where your cable, sky or freeview box will pass straight through it, thus saving the need for an extra HDMI connection). The Xbox 360 is perfect for the occasional game. This new Xbox 360 is much improved over the earlier versions and for the first time the controller actually works as it's supposed to. Finally Microsoft have got around to fixing it. Which makes it well worth the upgrade.* Swapping the HDD from your early version is simplicity in itself. Although you will need to employ a little dexterity. But thankfully not too much as the job is easy to do. You'll need a Torx T6 and a T10 and that's it (costing pennies). If you watch the many vids on YouTube, you'll soon get the idea of how to remove it from the casing. Then slip the HDD into an Xbox 360 Slim OEM caddy (same as the original from MS and available from various sources, as well as here on Amazon COLT® Black HDD Hard Disk Drive Case for xBox 360 Slim ) and simply slide the HDD into place. Then when you start up for the first time all your settings and installed games will be there just as they always were.

Great console but missing a few essentials.
It is what it is. A great console with a great game. The newer version is the smallest and quietest yet, and great for anyone not yet wanting a new gen console. Only reason it's not a 5 star is the lack of a headset ( not even the nasty cheap ones you got 5 years ago ) Ethernet cable ( yea it's wireless but that makes for slower downloads ) and no HDMI cable. These things should really be in the box but that's Microsoft for you, I'm actually surprised you got batteries for the controller and a months free Xbox live!

Controller developed a fault within two weeks!
My issue is hard to explain and I have looked for the contact information of the seller but failed to find any.It has been about two weeks since the bundle arrived and up until a few days ago was working perfectly.I was playing GTA V and during one of the missions the camera angle suddenly veered upwards, even though I was not directly controlling this action. It's as though I am moving the right thumbstick into the upward position, even though I am not touching it at all. At first I thought it was just a bug in the game and so restarted it, thinking this would fix the problem. It didn't. Then I tried switching to another game, Medal Of Honor. It was at the point I realised that it was in fact the controller that had developed the fault. I have kept the controller in a safe place and it has not been damaged at all by myselfI cannot find any means of contacting the seller and so have reverted to posting this review in an effort to get the seller's attention and getting the controller replaced.

Good but no cigar.
Second Xbox 360, replaced old version to accommodate wifi capability. Very easy to set up. Disappointed that there were no earphones included which should have been. Luckily had a spare set from my old Xbox 360, or this would have been sent back!! Hence only 3 stars.

Excellent for Minecraft
Bought this primarily for my son to play Minecraft with his friends. Having been a PS3 user for 6 years, it was a bit of a culture shock and I resisted buying it until it became clear that all his friends have Xbox 360s (because they're cheaper than PS3s) so I gave in. And became hooked on Minecraft myself ;-).4GB is unlikely to be enough storage so you might want to do what I did - buy this unit and then a third party hard disk which slots in (very, very, simple to do - you don't need to unscrew anything!). This works out considerably cheaper than buying the 500GB Xbox. So far so good in my case. I also bought a second hand Kinect (via Amazon) which has proven interesting as a piece of technology but we don't use it that much. It's certainly more effective than Playstation's Move system.I did own an original Xbox 360 and this one is definitely quieter than that. However, it still makes a considerable noise when playing games (it's fan noise rather than the optical drive) - in my view it's louder than the PS3 - so this might annoy. However, it is a much nicer unit than the original Xbox and fits nicely into a living room full of black boxes. For the price, you can't beat it.
