not better than the 3dsxl...just different...definatley not worse though.
ok had a 3dsxl before buying this but wanted to play the Gameboy advance games(have pokemon ruby right now) and am visually impared so can't figure out the Nintendo store(you can download some pokemon games on there like red, blue etc). I also wanted to trade with myself and considering I'll mainly use it for this purpose and a brand new 3dsxl is worth £150 on here and this costs under £20 if you want a 2nd ds for that purpose this is a good buy. Also important to note is that before buying this wanted a ds with a gba slot but infa red capability(due to my sight can't set up wifi, and infa red requires no set up at all, it's ready straight from the get go) and can comfirm this has both and is the latest model with a gba slot, again if you want a ds that has it all except 3d functionality(and it can play 3d games) this is a very good buy and again £130 less than a 3dsxl. Mine also came with a case, a deal or no game and charger, aswell as stylus and fake/model game cartridges, so good to read full seller descriptions as I read every one of them to get a good deal. It is also considerabley smaller than the 3dsxl and infact I wouldn't really call the 3dsxl portable, it feels much heavier and larger in comparison and due to it's price again the ds light is easillyish replaceable so better for taking out and about, although as I said mine came with a case. One bad thing(kinda) about the ds light is the screen and sound quality is noticeably worse(and I'm visually impared) it's not bad by any standards, you do need to be aware however you will notice a difference. The only other difference is that the 3dsxl has a joystick like on a console controller, don't use it myself, and is very well built, unintrusive on the 3dsxl so not really an issue for me. As for battery life haven't had the ds light long enough to test this properly but seems pretty comparible to the 3dsxl and that's a good thing considering how the 3dsxl's battery is. Can't notice any difference in build quality, got the black ds light and looks amazing. One last thing is that the ds light is probably more user friendly, don't know if I'm doing it wrong but on my 3dsxl have to hold the power button for a certain time then press a button on the touch screen to turn it off, where as on the ds light you just slide a slider similar to the volume control. Also haven't downloaded any updates for either console(obviously) but on my standard version just have to press a a load of times to play the game, where as the 3dsxl has loads of options, such as for the camera and microphone. In summary if you want a more portable, smaller, much, much cheaper ds with no bells and whistles, that is more user friendly get this ds light. More suitable for children or elder people due to it's user friendliness, also more suitable for children due to it's price. However if yu want a ds with a better quality screen(and a fair bit larger too) and sound, with more features and want to get the most out of 3d games get the 3dsxl. However personally I'd recommend getting both as they're both better at different things and love loads of gba games.

Excellent all around
When one browses the internet for the latest hand-held console, one tends to think, "Sony or Nintendo". I always say that its worth going for the less froogle approach, but on this unusual occasion, I would think otherwise. The first thing that attracted me to the DS was the price. For just under £££, you get a myriad of features, a plethora of games and not to mention the gargantuan abilities of this small but all so mighty console. At a glance, the touch screen seems like a novelty that Nintendo has feebly sneaked in to woo the gaming public, but when stylus loses its innocence to the screen, an aura of smugness embraces the gamer in a way that could not be imagined. Its elusive design and seductive backlit screen never fails to make one tremble at the knees. The main feature that singles out Nintendo from the rest is the wide range of games ONLY available on Nintendo consoles. For example, where else can you find the red-capped rotund rogue that we have have become so dearly fond of over the years, the one only known as Super Mario? Nuff said!

Seems to be in good working nick
Recently bought this and I've been using it for about a week. It seems like everything is fully working, even the folding is good and the screens are completely free from scratches. There are some slight scratches on the outside and this particular material is a fingerprint magnet but that's a bit of a nitpick.Overall, I'd say it's a reasonably high price but justified by the quality, I'm relatively happy with my purchase

Good condition???
Good condition suggests it worked and I may have expected some wear and tear. But not that the main function IE the play screen was unplayable! Ruined xmas day!
