Non-Nanoparticle Mineral Sunscreen That Rubs in Clear But A Little Greasy
This is at the top of every environmentalist's list. This is non-nanoparticle mineral sunscreen for those of you who are paranoid about small molecules seeping into the skin. I bought it during a bout of said paranoia. It smells like toasted sesame seeds (I believe it contains sesame oil), and ingredients separate so it requires a bit of shaking (or kneading, as the package instructs -it's hard to shake the tube). It rubs in clear, so it's the only non-nanoparticle mineral sunscreen I can use on my face that doesn't leave a visible chalky white layer (except maybe for Marie-Veroniques tinted sunscreen). It's oil-based, so it's not ideal for people with oily skin. The minerals can actually be drying once the oil evaporates, so I would recommend applying an oil-free moisturizer underneath before applying the sunscreen. I have a habit of using too much on my arms and legs which takes longer to rub in and almost leaves a sparkly blue sheen on my dark skin, so apply with care.

Disappointed
I have been desperatly searching for a sunscreen that is free from cancer-causing chemicals and works. Alas, this sunscreen had little to no effect in protecting my skin from the sun. Also, I did knead the tube before use. I have found all natural sunscreens to be greasy. I would say this one is one of the least greasy. However, After an hour in the sun, I was burnt and covered in freckles. I have pale skin and so far the only semi-natural sunscreen that works is Lavera's for children. It is extremely greasy and leaves your skin white, but at least you do not get sunburned. Do not buy this product for sun protection.

Good in so many ways, but. . . .
I really wanted to love this product. It has so many good qualities - completely safe and non-toxic both for the wearer and the water supply it eventually gets washed into. Organic, a true breakthru product. However, I'll probably try something else next time.Negatives: it's quite expensive; it's very thick, making it hard for my arthritic hands to squeeze it out of the tube; apply too much and it's hard to rub it in enough to get rid of the white cast of the zinc oxide; not enough and you'll burn (remember it's "only" SPF 30, which is marginal here in the Texas sun). And altho it doesn't pollute the water supply, what about the environmental cost of shipping it from Australia to the U.S.?Positives: Odorless, very water resistant. I have to wash my hands with soap - twice - after applying! Unlike other reviewers, I don't find it particularly oily or greasy, just persistent. Days when I'm not wearing my mineral makeup with built-in SPF, I mix a dab of Soleo in with my daytime moisturizer to give my face some sun protection. It was definitely worth trying, but it's time for me to shop around some more.

It's mediocre.
I bought some of this sunscreen because of its high rating on the EWG website's list of safest/best sunscreens. I really don't like it all that much. You have to knead the tube to mix the oily part with the cream which I find annoying. It is also pretty greasy once you put it on.The safety factors are nice, but otherwise the application is not great (I am using it for my 3 year old). I won't buy it again. Check out Sun Science sport formula, way better.

Sticky and smelly, but good protection
I am not a fan of this product. It is very hard to apply. And no matter how long and hard I rub it into my skin, it leaves light-purple stripes all over. The stripes become even more visible after swimming. It does not get absorbed very well either, so you feel sticky and skin stays shiny. Also, it smells pretty strongly like stale vegetable oil, and the smell stays on all day.In regards to protection, I can't complaint about it. Wearing it, I have not got sunburn or freckles.

excellent safe sunscreen
this is an effective, easy to use, safe sunscreen. Most sunscreens contain chemical sunscreens which were approved back in the 70's by the FDA, but which have since been shown to absorb thru the skin and cause hormone issues in people - Oxybenzone is the most common and acts like estrogen when it is absorbed thru the skin. Soleo uses Zinc Oxide instead, and it is in a formula with large enough molecules that the Zinc Oxide isn't absorbed into the body, so it avoids negative effects that the chemicals cause. Plus it's in a form that is easy to spread and you use less than a regular sunscreen. More info on sunscreens in general at:[...]this is where I got the information I quoted above.

Best Organic Sunscreen
This was recommended by an aesthetician friend of mine who owns her own all organic skincare line (Salis Skincare- Google it. You won't be disappointed). She is very careful making sure the products she uses are 100% organic. This is the first sunscreen I have ever used that didn't make me break out! Yes it's a little more oily/greasy but they are organic oils that are good for your skin. I use it only on my face and it lasted me 3 Utah summers. A little goes a long way. And if you knead it before you use it, it applies easier.

Redhead-tested and approved
I wore this sunscreen on my recent snorkeling excursion to Cococay in the Bahamas. I'm a fair redhead so I also wore a 50 spf sun shirt, and applied Soleo to my face, neck, and exposed areas. It is thick and goes on a bit like Desitin, and there is a slight bluish tinge to your skin for about ten minutes, but I didn't find that to be a problem. I didn't burn in the Caribbean, which was amazing considering how much time I spent in the water. Remember to knead the tube to soften up the cream for easier application, and don't fret about the slight tinge of color-- it's better to be a little blue than painfully red!
