Absolutely impressed in every respect EXCEPT
NOTE The review below was written before I discovered a major issue and that is battery life. Something will have to be done about this. I lost 25% in about an hour of listening. I made some adjustments including disconnecting the sync with the Find My phone app but that doesn’t seem to have helped much. I’ll give it some more time and reset the AirPods but this does not bode well. ORIGINAL REVIEW A significant advancement. First model with ANC in this form factor. And it is incredible! I’ve used many buds and over the ear models and the noise cancellation on these AirPods is superb. The comfort is remarkable. I have avoided AirPods because I thought the hard plastic would be uncomfortable. Not so! No sense of them about to fall out and no compressed feeling from having to stuff them in and trying to seal the ear canal.

Survived a full cycle washer!
I think this product really deserves an amazing review. Left them accidentally in the pockets of shorts without a case, forgot and threw the shorts into a washer, 45 min warm normal cycle - they still work like nothing happened 🤪 found the airpods out of the shorts' pockets just scattered all over the washer floor. No damage, work as before, all feature seems to work just fine - insane! I've been using airpods since 2019, have all three of them and all three still work. The battery on the older ones is not that great, but the quality is still fine. What an amazing product. Lasts forever, quality is great, fit is great. I don't think there are any other earphones that feel more comfortable. I've had some qualms with airpods 3, them and these new airpods 4 do not stay in the ear as well as the airpod 2, but it's ok, I;ve learn how to deal with them. Maybe it's just me, but they fall all when I smile :D.. Oh well, as long as you don't smile too much, these are perfect. A note on active noise canceling - this thing is straight out of scifi. I actually thought its noise canceling for a mic, didn't realize it is for the earphones themselves. It's cool, but drains the battery too much. Useful when driving on the highway with open windows. Anyways, for all the negativity out there, I think sometimes Apple deserves a pad on their back. What other product would have survived a washing machine

Great, but not perfect noise cancelling, and very comfortable.
This is the first apple product I have ever owned. As a long time android user, I was worried that my experience would be sub-par when trying to use an Apple product with a Pixel. They don't work as seamlessly as they likely do on iPhone, but they do still work. That being said, I have some difficulty pausing and unpausing my music with the earphone, and turning the noise cancellation feature on and off requires holding one earbud for a few seconds. It would be easier for me to do that on my phone, but it's not possible with my Pixel. I primarily purchased these to use the active noise cancellation while mowing my lawn. I absolutely cannot stand the rubber earplug type headphones, and previously used a pair of Sennheiser over-the-ear headphones with active noise cancelling to mow my lawn. Those are the gold-standard, but they're very hot to wear in the summer, and the sweat becomes irritating. They also tend to slip off your head when you hit a branch, or bend over. I replaced those with Pixel Bud Pro's. Those sounded great, but the rubber earplug design really irritates my ears, and they are "outside heavy" because of the large bubble that sits outside of your ear. That means they constantly slip out and require adjustment. The sound quality and volume level of these is lower than both my Sennheiser and my pixel bud pro's, which both have more bass and higher clarity. That being said, these are MUCH more comfortable for me and didn't require as much re-adjusting as I mowed my lawn. The active noise cancellation works very well, but not as well as either my Sennheiser or my Pixel Buds. I was able to listen to my podcasts at a reasonable volume while still mowing my lawn, but it did leak more lawnmower sound than either of my other options. As far as using these as hearing protection with my backpack leaf blower, unfortunately these are absolutely no match for that sound. One option that's on the Pixel Bud Pro that I miss on these, is the "transparency" option. Pixel Bud Pro's have 3 operating modes. 'Normal' mode, which operates just like any other 'normal' headphone. 'Active Cancellation Mode' which performs the active noise cancellation, and 'Transparency mode' which actually amplifies external frequencies consistent with human voice which makes it easier to have a conversation without removing your earbuds. That missing feature isn't a deal-killer, but it does mean that I have to remove these earbuds when someone wants to talk to me. Overall, even though I'm a Pixel user, knowing what I now know about AirPods 4 and Pixel Buds pro, I can say I prefer the AirPods 4. They're much more comfortable, and the active cancellation is adequate.

Very happy with this purchase!
These AirPods 4 work great for meetings! The sound is clear, and people can hear me well when I'm talking. They're comfortable to wear, even during longer meetings, and I like being able to move around without dealing with wires. The noise cancellation is a nice bonus when I need to focus. Overall, they work exactly as I need them to for work calls and everyday use

Excellent sound quality, comfort, highly customizable, and the batteries last for HOURS!
After losing the left earbud of my second-generation AirPods, which were already on their way out after 4+ years, I decided to invest in these new ones. Despite searching for my old one for hours, I couldn’t find the dead earbud even with the Find My app on my phone. One of the standout features of this version is the ability to ping each earbud individually, as well as the case and the batteries last at least 5 hours on one charge. While I hope to never need to use the Find My feature, I’m comforted by the knowledge that I can if necessary. I’ve been a fan of Apple’s AirPods since their release. Although they’re pricier, the quality and design are worth every penny. I’ve fully embraced the Apple ecosystem, and everything is seamlessly integrated. Upgrading to these AirPods adds incredible features. The noise cancellation is a hidden gem, a hallmark of Apple’s innovation and well worth the additional $40. I can toggle it on or off, or switch to adaptive mode, which automatically turns it off during conversations. Transparency mode lets me hear both my music and my surroundings, making them ideal for biking and listening to traffic. These AirPods are easy to control and charge quickly on my Anker charger. They maintain a full charge for hours, even after watching TV and listening to music all day. A quick half-hour charge keeps them powered for another few hours. Another new perk is the live translation feature, which is currently in beta testing. This will be very handy whenever I’m in Miami and interacting with my Spanish-speaking friends. Overall, these AirPods are worth the investment. I highly recommend getting a pair.

Apple quality so you can’t go wrong
I bought these on sale, so I feel like I got a heck of a deal. They pair seamlessly to my iPhone and iPad, obviously. I use these mostly for phone calls for work and listening to moves as I run on the treadmill. For phone calls, they do a great job of blocking out background noise so I can hear while also isolating my voice so others can hear me. My office is a bit noisy and I haven’t had any complaints about excess noise on my end. For running on the treadmill… These block out the treadmill noise almost completely. I’m impressed. I watch movies on my iPad while I run (I run a lot) and there’s nothing I had more than the drone of the treadmill. They MOSTLY stay in place, but I’m not too embarrassed to admit I’m a sweaty person. Sometimes I need to take one out and wipe it off to stop them from draining sweat into my ear. It stops the movie while I do, but it starts again as soon as I put them back in. I don’t have any issues with them falling out completely, but sometimes it feels like they shift when I sweat a lot and I need to adjust them. Side note: I have never had an issue with AirPods malfunctioning from sweat. These are no different. I’ve run over 1500 miles with these and they are still working flawlessly.

Comfortable, & functional bluetooth headset.
These earbuds work very well. Not the best sounding as high-end pro version of headphones but good enough at this price point in the budget category. Overall it has a good capability & satisfied with it for the price factor. I would recommend it. My 2 cents below: Pros: - Sound is good & clear enough with decent noise cancelling - Comfortable to wear & use these even for long periods of time - Good hours of battery backup is the above market standard for similar headphones - The controls on the headsets are easy to get used to - Design is classy & modern looking - Build quality is very good overall & feels durable Cons: - No ear tips in these making it not very snug fit overall, that the biggest cons for me - No controls from phone as such

DON'T BUY USED!!! NO On-ear volume control! Uncomfortable!
Update 2: I figured out why they are garbling sound! Turn off Enhance Dialogue in Apple Podcasts where you change the speed. That fixed it on all my pairs of my Airpods. (Unfortunately as a default it is turned on.) Update 3: I can get it to pair with my Apple Watch series 6 now, but I usually have to toggle Bluetooth on and then back off on the watch itself so it's still annoying but workable. I can also spin the digital crown on my watch to adjust the volume so that lack of volume control on the ear stems isn't nearly as annoying as it was. Update: I bought these used in Like New/mint condition. They are still paired to the previous owner even though they looked brand new when I bought them. I’m having a lot of issues with them becoming garbled while listening and they chirp every time I open the case and at other random times. I would not recommend buying these used. I have no way to unpair them from the previous owner and they are not performing the way I would expect an Apple product to function. I also hate that Find My won’t make them chirp reliably but they will chirp randomly all the time ( both the case and actual earbuds). Previous Review: (still applies!) I've had these for two weeks. I almost returned these b/c they can be quite uncomfortable and I still haven't found a way to keep them in my ears as securely as I'd like, and also have them in comfortably. It's still a relief to remove them. But, I do really like the active noise cancelling feature for some things (treadmill and elliptical machine especially, and I noticed quite a difference in the grocery store). I've never had ANC headphones before. I like that they turn on right away without having to push a button to wait for them to turn on, and I can monitor their battery life on my phone, and and pair between my two Macbooks fairly easily (the 2014 Macbook still needs me to manually pair it), as well as my iPhone and Apple watch. I would prefer the rubber seal things for comfort and security, but after messing with them for a couple of weeks, I realize that I don't need to wedge them into my ears in the same way that I used to with my cheapo Amazon rubber earpiece earbuds and I now find them tolerable. I also like that they are white so if they fall off while I'm outside, they're easy to find, unlike my cheapo black ones. I like that they pause automatically if one falls out (although it's annoying if one is just loose and they pause for no reason. Sometimes they have to be loose to be comfortable). They will also auto-pause if you fall asleep (although I find that they pause too early while I am still awake). I like that you can wear just one when you are sleeping on your side, although Active Noise Canceling only works when you are wearing both. I bought them used so I am sort of annoyed that they still seem to be paired with someone else's iPhone and a different email address was showing up at first. It keeps notifying me that they are found moving with me but I am able to use them and I was able to change the name to my own name but I can not use Find Me with them, and they will often make ringing noises at odd times. I'm not sure I'd buy used again even though they said they were in Mint condition and looked like they had never been used - original packaging and everything. My biggest annoyance other than their lack of comfort, is that there is NO WAY TO ADJUST VOLUME ON THE EARBUDS! I kept looking for videos to figure this out and it's only available on some earlier models. I keep trying to swipe the stem and nothing happens. I'm so used to over-ear headphones where I can adjust the volume, so I often find myself going back to my old headphones while I'm exercising because I don't want to have to pause my workouts just to change the volume on my phone. It means turning off my treadmill so I don't fall off while I'm adjusting the volume and it's really annoying! I also find that switching between modes is annoying so I have to take out my phone b/c it keeps wanting to turn off the ANC and go to a different mode automatically. I can never trust which mode it's in so I have to pull out my phone to look. I do like how easy it is to pause on the stems. I don't really like how you miss out on part of your podcast or book when you talk b/c usually I'm just talking to my dog on a walk and I don't need it to lower the volume automatically. This is probably a mode issue and I just need to figure out which mode to be in instead of always defaulting to ANC. I got my first pair of Gen 1 airpods free with my 2020 Macbook and they broke right away, so I'm really hoping these last a lot longer than those did! So overall, I'm keeping them, mostly b/c my other ones stopped pairing with my apple watch suddenly, but I don't love them. Some things are good, and just as many things are not. Voice clarity is very good. I can talk to my sister while on my treadmill and she can hear me just fine, and never mentions that she can tell that I'm walking (but then again, she does 90% of the talking).
