A great little set
A handy little set for small places

Robust and versatile
An excellent little set which is well made and includes two sets of ratchets and adaptors. The larger ratchet has a versatile articulated handle which works well in tight areas where you can't get a full sized tool in place. The smaller ratchet is also nicely made with knurled grips perfect for smaller jobs. You also have a set of screwdriver bits and adaptors but no case which would have rounded this set off nicely.

ideal for working in tight spaces, good ratcheting action. No release button on smaller unit
PROS-handles are indeed very stubby! (idea for working in tight spaces)-ratcheting action is smooth-quite solidly built-larger has a pivoting head (with 3/8” bit), smaller a dual-tool head (with 1/4” bit for sockets)-screwdriver bits and sockets well appreciatedCONS-casting is a little rough on some edges-does not include a case-I got a head stuck on the socket size of the smaller tool. My hands had oil on them, so took a pair of pliers to remove it (there is no release button)MY STAR RATINGS:1* substandard, mostly cons2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

Incredible flexibility in a pair of stubby ratchets
So you occasionally find yourself working in confined spaces and you want to check out the new "stubby" ratchets to see what, if anything, they have to offer? Preferably in both 1/4" and 3/8" drives because you use both formats depending on application? And maybe with one of those fancy ratchet heads that can be “flexed” through a 180 degree arc so as to enhance your leverage in confined spaces? Well, this compact tool kit from Workpro allows you to do all that, and more. It gives you separate 1/4" and 3/8" "stubby" ratchets. The 1/4" has a fixed head, the 3/8" is a 180 degree flex job. Two 3” extension bars are included, 1/4" and 3/8". You’ll also find two socket adapters (1/4” to 3/8” and 3/8” to 1/4”, which enables you to load either 1/4" or 3/8" sockets on either ratchet. Entirely cool, IMO.The 1/4” ratchet is actually a duel-head ratchet. On back of the 1/4" ratchet you'll find a ratcheting bit driver. And since nobody wants a ratcheting bit driver without a few bits to feed it, a set of 10 hex-shanked bits are included. Nine of the 10 are slot, Phillips, Torx, and hex bits. You want a nut driver too? Well, you got it. The tenth bit in the aforementioned set of 10, is a hex-bit-to-socket adapter. Plug it into your ratcheting bit driver (the one on the back of your 1/4" stubby ratchet), and you will create a ratcheting nut driver that will accept any 1/4" sockets you have lying around your shop or garage.Want even more, you say? Remember those previously discussed socket adapters, the 1/4" to 3/8" and 3/8" to 1/4" guys? Well, grab the smaller of the pair, the 1/4" to 3/8" guy, slap it onto the 1/4" gear tang created when you plugged that hex-bit-to socket adapter shaft into the ratcheting bit driver on the back of your 1/4" stubby ratchet, and viola! Now you can wield your ¼” stubby ratchet as a 3/8" drive ratcheting nut driver and use any 3/8” sockets you might have on hand.If this is not flexibility in a couple of ratchets that will literally fit in a shirt pocket, then tell me what is. It's a neat little kit. And seemingly built with some precision. Do a test. Hold the gear tang between thumb and forefinger of one hand. Hold it near your ear. Now, using one finger of your free hand, slowly twirl the ratchet handle as you continue to hold the ratchet near your ear. And listen as you twirl. Hear the clicking? Hear (and feel) how close together the clicks are spaced? Those clicks are what you hear (and possibly feel, if you’re a safe-cracker) each time the ratrchet’s pawl drops into the recess behind a “tooth” in the gear wheel. These little Workpro stubby ratchets, despite their Lilliputian statures, each contain a 72-tooth gear wheel. Divide 360 degrees by 72. Your result is 5. As in five degrees. That means, when you’re working in a tight, confined, almost inaccessible spot that barely allows you to wiggle the wrench handle, the most you have to move it (on one of these ratchets) is 5 degrees of arc in order to reset the pawl into the next recess and give you leverage to crank loose that stubborn nut, even if you have to accomplish its removal one tiny 5 degree arc of movement at a time. How much, practically, is five degrees of arc? It’s a little more than one percent of a full 360 degree turn. We’ve all probably removed a fastener of some kind or other under similar circumstances. It takes time. It gets tedious. But with these little “stubby” ratchets, it can be done. Awesome, in my book.

Nice short ratchet set
If you are only getting one socket wrench set, don't get this one. Get one that's normal sized. However, if you are like me and find yourself often repairing a wide variety of things, you'll find that at times you just need a different tool for the job. While this tool has the side benefit of being small and easy to carry around, the main reason for this tool is those cases where space is tight and you need a short handle to get into the space. This doesn't happen that often, honestly. Often it happens when I'm trying to repair something without taking everything apart between me and what I'm trying to fix. But, once you need a tool, you are glad to have it.The quality of this tool is fine for occasional use.
