Q: Would this work with an android car radio screen?

I have one as a reversing Camera : Also on the front of the car for additional low legal vision, my car is a 10 year VW Fox now upgrade4d to a modern drive around.

Q: How does it turn on? Is it always on and always connected to the camera wirelessly? Does it automatically go to sleep when not in use?

To avoid distractions while driving (unless it is used for some other purposes) the camera is connected to the reversing lamp at the rear of the vechile, which when engaged sends power to the camera unit (which should be mounted in a pre-determined location) which gives the driver an optimal view of the rear when reversing. Nevertheless it is always best to use your own judgement which u would have used, if u had no rear camera. This device is an aid & not a replacement to ones own judgement/experience, as any damage to any property can not be replaced afterwards

Q: How far will they transmit thinking about putting on the back of 7m caravan

It works absolutely fine on the back of a 7.5 tonne horse lorry, so should be ok with a caravan.
