Covers Its Basis
It's a short read so not worth a ton of money for me but it does aim to be concise. It covers what you'd expect it to in its title. I feel as though if you've taken any route of course through school where your were expected to produce a portfolio, you already have the basics down and really only need to research types of tattoo art and then produce that along with your "style" in a professional & organized manner. Besides that the author covers what a prospective apprenticeship world be looking for from you and how best to navigate them. If you have any experience in sales you may already know the drill. Come at them in a professional manner, show respect, be persistent, and followup. I also like how this read covers the grunt work and familiarizes you with the tools of the trade where that's concerned. However, if you are looking for knowledge on tatoo machines, inks, etc., that is not within the scope of this book as this book literally focuses on getting an apprenticeship and what to look for in the ones you want vs. those you may not benefit from & why.

It's ok.
I chose a 3 star rating because I found the grammatical errors off-putting and they made it harder to concentrate. More importantly though, I felt like he was a little bias in his advice and overall opinion of the tattoo industry; it just seemed like he was pretty negative about it all. Lastly, he seemed like a knowitall! Saying things like "if you get famous make sure to send me $200 for giving you incredible advice!" Yeah not for an opinionated $3 book that was barely skimmed for errors! That probably sounds rude, but I'm sorry. I'm sure other people may enjoy this book, it just wasn't for me.

Trash
Doesn't give much info. Only what to except from an apprenticeship. Not anything else. Such trash! I'd give it negative stars if I could. Never order!!!!!

To the point and informative
This book was short and concise. I'm doing my initial research before diving head first into that tattooing world, and the author gave a solid, non-sugar coated viewpoint on the subject matter.

Not worth 12$
The book is very short with lots of padding; you can breeze through it in an hour. Most of the text is filler and chalk full of unconscious bias and judgements. The perspective from an ex-tattooer reminds the reader that becoming a tattooist is not all sunshine and daisies, which is the only reason I am giving this a 2-star.

A great first read for someone just starting out.
This is a brutally realistic asset. I am glad I read it, no bs and gave me information that is useful. Not as general as other books. Thank you to the author.

Simple, concise, straight talking
Really helpful book! Very down to earth, telling it how it really is. Very straightforward and concise. Really small book that can be read in a day but very helpful if wanting to know how to get an apprenticeship. If you want something that literally tells you how to tattoo then this is not the book for you. But it gives handy tips for getting into the tattoo industry.

A good book to read if your thinking of becoming a tattooist
I found this book straight to the point, informative and realistic but not so inspiring.some good factors of what to expect which I liked.

A very negative essay on the trade of tattooing. Hardly any info..
The title of this book should be: Get a life! don't start tattooing! It's hardly a book but more of a few pages telling you to do something else (preferrably something fun..) with your life. The author dispays an array of bad experiences in the business, tells you the earnings are poor, the colleagues that tattoo behave like pop stars and the customers often are quite smelly. Finally he gives some details about how to do it.

Not Useful At All
I’m already a tattoo artist and am looking into existing books on how to get into the industry. I get asked all the time how to get an apprenticeship, and I’m looking for the best information that I can refer others to. This book has hardly any information at all, never mind anything accurate or unbiased. Far too simplified with many spelling and grammar mistakes, and not enough detail to be considered helpful in any capacity. Huge waste of time and money.
