Very good assisted flipper
When I first came across this knife, 3 years ago, scanning Amazon, it’s look was what first drew me in. I liked the blade contours and the handle looked comfortable.Full disclosure: This is not my daily carry, but it could be. My daily is the Kershaw Link 1776T, another very good product. If anything ever happened to that knife, this one would easily take its place. It worked nice right out of the box. It didn’t hang up, I didn’t have to oil it, or make any adjustments. Shaving sharp, too.If I were a knife snob, I probably wouldn’t have given this blade a second look, but I’m not and I’m glad I’m not. I would’ve missed out on an inexpensive, but completely capable knife for my needs. It’s not solid like a hunting knife, but the lock-up and disconnect are solid and smooth. It feels great in-hand.As far as the carry option, I’ve come to prefer a tip-down carry. Extracting from my pocket puts my index finger directly in line with the flipper, and at a safe angle to open away from me.I haven’t used it extensively, so I can’t speak to the clip creating a hot spot, but the way it fits in my hand, I can’t see where it would, unless maybe if you were making a lot of feather sticks. Even then I think that’s a stretch. My experience with the steel, which is the same on my Link, it holds a decent edge, and it’s easy to dress. I don’t allow my knives to get too dull. I stay on top of sharpening. All in all a five star knife for my purposes.

Geeat knife for the price
I have been collecting knives for a while now. Over the last year, I have purchased nearly all Kershaws. I find Kershaw a tough brand to beat for the quality and price point.I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised with the Grinder. I have saw and also read several reviews for the Grinder. I was concerned over the number of negative reviews I was able to find, but, there were some positive feedback as well. So, for under $20 I thought why not buy one and give it a chance. When I received the Grinder, the blade had a very nice edge on it. I finished off the edge with just a few strokes on the ceramic part of my sharpener and was able to get a great edge. My biggest concern was opening speed and blade lockup. It opened slow. Slow to the point the blade only locked up maybe 50% of the time. Not good. Not good at all obviously. However, I almost expected as much as this was pointed out in many of the negative reviews that I had seen. But, as with all assisted opening knives I purchase, I went to work with some high quality oil and elbow grease. I lubricated the knife well and fired it open over. In no time, it started firing open and locking up very well. In fact, it may be one of my quicker opening Kershaws now. The blade is now locking up 100% of the time without fail. Even when I apply as little pressure possible to the flipper, it fires open and locks up every time.Now...the only thing I consider any type of flaw or design shortfall is the fact that it is tip down carry only. Obviously, for some people this makes no difference. For me it definitely does. Every other Kershaw I own and carry I carry as tip up. So that's just something that really bothers me about the design.I am giving the Grinder a 4 star rating. If the knife came as tip up carry, or better yet reversible, I would have given it 5 stars.* Update * I have only had the knife a few days now and have decided to give it to my son for his birthday coming up soon. I am sure he will really like it. Ordering another one to keep for myself too, of course.

My everyday carry
Great everyday carry knife. Sits low in the pocket so it doesn’t stand out. Very affordable price. The spring assist upon opening works well.
