⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ IT PRINTS, IT WARMS, IT CHANGED MY LIFE (AND MY BANK ACCOUNT SURVIVED)
Alright now, gather ‘round folks, 'cause I gotta tell y’all about the HP LaserJet M209d—the black-and-white laser printer that rolled into my home office like a silent hero and flipped my whole dang life upside down. Let’s start with the facts: I bought this thing to print coloring sheets. That’s right—me, a grown adult with a passion for outlines and clean fill space. And let me tell you… this printer prints ‘em so sharp and clean, I could frame ‘em. In fact, I sell ‘em on Etsy now. Because that’s how professional the quality is. You could hand one of these to a kindergartener or an art therapist and both would cry happy tears. Now—let’s talk connection. Is it wireless? No sir. Why? Because I cheaped out. It was either wireless or electricity, and I said, “I kinda like lights and hot food, so go ahead and gimme that USB cable.” And honestly? Best decision I made. Plug it in, print it out. Simple, fast, dependable—like a good huntin' dog. 🖨️ Print Quality? Stunning. Sharp as a gator’s tooth. Dark blacks, crisp edges. Doesn’t smudge, doesn’t stutter, doesn’t make you wait. If I were any happier with these results, I’d marry it and change my last name to LaserJet. But here’s the real reason I went laser: 🔥 THE WARMTH. Y’all, I don’t know what it is, but there’s somethin’ deeply spiritual about feelin’ a warm sheet of paper slide into your hands fresh off the press. I’ll print even when I don’t need to, just to hold that gentle heat. And this printer? It delivers a solid medium warmth. Not scaldin’, not cold. Like the hug of a flannel blanket on a breezy day. Do I wish it was warmer? Absolutely. Do I sometimes stack the pages just to trap the heat and press ‘em against my cheek like a weird paper sandwich? Also yes. But I accept its warmth for what it is—a gift, not a guarantee. ✅ Professional-level prints, perfect for Etsy or your second-grade niece ✅ Fast warm-up, and even faster printing ✅ USB only (because I picked survival over convenience) ✅ Easy setup—even if you live 45 minutes from a Staples ❌ Not wireless, but hey—it works ❌ I crave a little more paper warmth, but I’ll live Final verdict? This printer is the unsung hero of my home office. It prints beautifully, it warms my soul (and hands), and it didn’t fry my power bill. I love it. I respect it. I’d take it to Thanksgiving if it fit in the truck. Five stars. No regrets. Just vibes and warm pages.

100% satisfied
This is my first amazon review after years of using website. This printer is the best printer I have ever purchased. I have tried multiple different models and brands, and no other printer is as reliable, easy to set up, prints as fast and doesn't require WIFI or any Wireless b/s. Plugs in and Works. Imagine that in 2026.

Great Printer/Great Price (No WiFi !)
I really enjoy this printer. It is different from the other printers I have purchased. My other printers were hooked up to my WiFi and used the snap in ink cartridges. I do not use my printer that often and because of this, it seemed when I would go to print something, my printer was always offline. Also, the ink cartridge had dried out. It was a miserable experience. So I decided to give this laser printer a shot. It was reasonably priced, used the toner cartridge, and simply hooked to my computer via cable. Not only do I now get a quality print job, I also have no more frustration of trying to figure out why my printer keeps going offline and won't work. If you have the problem I did, this is the way to go. Great price, no hassles, great print quality! Do note that this printer prints only in black and white. No color. But I only need it for simple print jobs.

Very good!
When our old incredibly durable Samsung b/w laser printer finally kicked the bucket it was time to look elsewhere because Samsung must have made a unit that didn't fit the usual modern pattern of planned obsolescence. No more Samsungs. It lasted 8 years. So this HP looked OK and so far we're very happy with it. I use a wired connection so set up was easy and quick (on a Mac). It's compact, fast and pretty nice looking. However like seemingly all copiers the HP brand printer refills are a ripoff. Save a bundle and get the appropriate off brand size and you'll be a happy camper... or printer... or both.

Should work for some users but this is NOT Mac OS 12.x or later compatible
Driver issues accurate as of April 2025. Ignore the MAC OS icon in the ads & at HP.com if you're running anything later than MacOS v11.x. The HP drivers aren't compatible with anything later. I tried to download other laser printer drivers (as another customer suggested,) but none would work. HP support was laughable. After 4 agents & 2.5 hours of effort, I'd attempted several avenues to connect this printer with their guidance only to fail. Not one of the people assigned to the case was capable of reading, or perhaps, 'believing' the printer specs, or was convinced this model is USB only. Each tried to "get" me to connect to ethernet via a non-existent RJ-45 jack. They instructed me to peel off the grey sticker covering the vacant spot where the RJ-45 port could be, not trusting their own eyes to read this model is USB only! At the agents request, I shared many photos of the printer and the printer box, clearly advertising both MAC OS & USB-only and of the empty RJ-45 jack area at different stages of the support call, and am not exaggerating that they were all positive this printer has an ethernet port! The efforts were a waste of time for me & HP. Keep in mind, other printers in this series have ethernet ports. The open space under the sticker on the back (near the USB port) is where those models RJ-45 is located. in those cases, there should be more functionality with regards to using HP Smart or the mobile app, but not with this USB-only model & Mac Sequoia. HP blames Apple, of course, though they don't offer constructive comment on why HP won't update its drivers, with the last one being dated Fall 2024. Instead, they mentioned the issue of Sequoia's security features. Why a company the size of HP doesn't work with Apple to supply up-to-date drivers as Mac OS versions roll out, or clearly list which MAC OS are supported on the printer box, in advertising materials & at HP.com, is startling. I pre-shopped extensively. Had I seen a "not compatible with Mac OS v12 or later" or similar statement, I wouldn't have ordered the printer. Simple. Without HP supporting Mac OS updates, I won't be a customer. In theory, it 'could' AirPrint, exactly as is indicated on the HP site's driver page, but that comes back to the need for a Sequoia compatible driver & ethernet port or wireless capability. HP's Smart App for Mac OS Desktop or the mobile app aren't compatible with this particular USB-only model & Mac OS Sequoia because those Apps look for either an ethernet or wireless connection. Basically, there isn't a workaround because Sequoia won't recognize this model. I used two different USB-A to B cables with a USB-C adapter to connect it & cross-tested the cables & the printer with a neighbors Windows 11 computer & can verify that system did recognize this printer, confirming the issue lies with HP's Mac OS Sequoia incompatibility. Sadly, I can't lose several key Sequoia functions by rolling back to an earlier Mac OS. My goal was to have a simple USB laser printer model for my very occasional printing needs, but at the moment, it seems the Kyocera MA2000w is my only option. Of note, the printer box did include the USB cable. The ink cartridge is labeled as a starter. I don't know it's page capacity. Amazon was very pleasant to work with in scheduling the return of the printer & UPS picked it up for free Prime return the next day!

Best home BW laser printer for non-MS systems
IT WORKS EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD! Easy reliable printing at last. The best thing that can be said for any printer under any alternative operating system (Unix/Linux/*BSD/Mac). HP is generally very supportive of non-Windows systems, but it can still be hit or miss. If you need to do text printing or greyscale image (think copy machine quality) printing this is for you. Open the box, removee shipping tapes, add paper, plug in usb and power. Be sure you have the hplip packages installed with current updates on your system. Turn the printer on and use your systems hardware manager gui to install new printer. Start printing, and go on with your life. Many sets of instructions online suggest using hplip manager via hplip-gui from console to install. I found it doesn't work so well. The instructions I found at HP suggest installing kplip, then using YOUR SYSTEM hardware printer manager to set up the printer. Took less than one minute to do, and it works perfectly. HP Cartridge replacements cost about $65.00 here on Amazon, and at that price your pages are probably going to cost you pennies (remember those?) per page. Less than driving to a print shop and paying their prices. Very high quality, smudge and run free pages. Super quiet when operating, leass noise than any ink-jet printer I have owned, and no waiting to handle page after printing. Laser print is as waterproof as your paper, unlike ink. I despise wireless printers for various reasons, and don't want to open any security flaws in my network if I can avoid them. USB is the way to go for all peripherals. You can share this printer over the wired network without having to set up complicated password/firewall rules to keep Joe next door from printing his garbage on your printer. Less wireless less worry is a good rule to think about. 600 x 600 DPI resolution is more than all you need for anything except professional photograph printing, and if you want to pay for that level of output you would never be looking at the M209d to begin with... If price is the main consideration, check out the same printer available through Amazon renewed/used. I've made several purchases that way, and have yet to be disappointed with any purchase. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR HOME / SMALL OFFICE

After a year review...
I have had this printer for over a year, and I don't use it as much as some people might use their printer, but it has been reliable, and I knew that it was not Wi-Fi compatible as well, so I was not disappointed with that. There is a way to make the printer wireless. There are many YouTube videos that will help with that. The setup was really easy. If you aren't great with technology or apps, then you may want to get someone who is familiar with all of that set it up for you.

Muy buena compra
Hasta ahora la impresora ha funcionado muy bien, sin ningún problema. Por su precio me parece una muy buena compra. El hecho de no tener conexión vía wifi se resuelve fácilmente a través de una red local inalámbrica.

Awesome
Direct plug in to computer, no more hassles with internet. Runs very quiet and quick. And not being held as a hostage for ink replacement s. For what we need it works great.
