Belkin fixed it - now MFI certified, works great with Apple devices
UPDATE: This cable is now MFI certified and works GREAT.... well made and works every time. At this point there are tons of MFI certified cables on Amazon, so shop around for price. But wanted to bring this from one star up to 5 stars given they have fixed this issue. I'll join the chorus as this seems to be happening to many of us.... This is not Apple certified according to my iPhone 5s.... it worked for about a week and now when I plug it in to charge it (forget sync'ing) it says it's a non supported accessory and may not work. It does not work. Suggest you get the Amazon Basics USB cable instead... works GREAT! AmazonBasics USB A to Lightning Compatible Cable (3 Feet/0.9 Meter) The cable manufacturers are really having a hard time complying with Apple's newest protocols to prevent us from using non-Apple cables. Hope this helps.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I recently ordered and received the 6-inch version of this cable to connect my iPhone 5s to my car's stereo system. I had previously been using the Griffin Technology GC17097 USB Mini-Cable Kit for my in-car connectivity needs, but was looking for a suitable alternative now that I have a device with a Lightning adapter. Specifically, I was looking for something that was: - short (6" or less) - MFi certified (since Apple has been cracking down on and preventing full functionality with unlicensed cables starting with iOS 7) - preferably black in color, and most importantly... - could fit through the official Apple iPhone 5s case. I'm happy to report that this cable meets all of those criteria. I can't comment on its long-term durability yet but it feels sturdy enough for repeated, daily use. My phone didn't display any errors upon connection, and the Lightning end is indeed reversible unlike some cheaper third-party cables. The cable fits the official Apple case more comfortably than even I expected (after estimating with another reviewer's measurements of this product), but I imagine some other larger cases may be less permissive. Also -- and this may matter less to you if you're not as nit-picky as me about aesthetics -- but the black, plastic ends of the cable seem smaller than they appear on the generic product page. The Belkin logo also does not seem as deeply engraved into the Lightning end as it appears on the product page and is surprisingly quite tastefully done when seen in person, in my opinion. The only downside, as many others have mentioned, is the price of the cable. At a similar price point as the Apple-brand cables, the larger sizes are certainly tougher of a sell. However, this appears to be the only cable on the market currently that matches all of criteria I mentioned above, so I had less of a problem paying this premium for what amounts to a cable marketed at a particular niche. In short, I highly recommend this cable if you're also looking for a well-made, short, fully functional and Apple-certified cable!

It broke after 2 uses…
I purchased this belkin cable some time ago but opened the box for the first time this week. The durability is none, I used only twice before it broke in two… the metal part was still inserted in the iPad. I do not recommend this product, no value for your money especially because you might have to pay for your iPad to be repaired if the metal part stays stuck in the device (I’m glad we were able to remove it!). Not sturdy at all.

Worked great for 2 years.
I bought two of these several months ago and have had absolutely no problem with them. They're mostly used for charging, but when I do plug them into the computer it recognizes the phone. The reason this is important is that some people have complained about non-Apple branded cables not working properly. I've had no such problem. UPDATE: I've had this cable for two years. It's on my desk at work and I use it to charge my phone, so it isn't ever pulled or tugged on. Today it quit working -- the phone says it isn't an approved cable. I don't actually know how long a real Apple branded cable would last, but I've dropped it from 5 stars to 4 because I wouldn't have expected it to quit working, as it hasn't been abused in any way. But for what I paid for it, it's still a worthwhile purchase.

Excellent, sturdy, inexpensive
On 22 May, I had an emergency and needed a Lightning-USB sync cable immediately because the original cable that came with my iPod was very flimsy and ceased working. I couldn't charge or sync. I went to Wal-Mart and purchased the Belkin cable for $24.88 plus tax. I was really pleased with the sturdiness of the Belkin cable as compared with the original Apple cable. The Belkin replacement worked perfectly. I thought it best to pick up two more cables as spares and, this time, I looked at Amazon. The exact, identical Belkin cable sold for $9.99. Also, I ordered it 12 June in the morning and it was in my postbox today, 14 June in the early afternoon. It was in my hands a little more than 48 hours after I ordered it, and two cables from Amazon cost less than the one cable from Wal-Mart. I'll be a little more careful about my emergency purchasing in the future.

Satisfied with this product. Doesn’t fray easily like most others. Very durable.

longer and stronger than the lightweight fast-fray cable included with the phone

bought some cheaper ones a year ago and as the phones went through updates the cables stopped working. so I decided to buy these and I don't regret at all.
