Customer service was better than the product.
I'm amending this review after their customer support contacted me immediately upon my original poor review. So I'm going from one star to three.Right out of the box it worked great, plug and play with Windows 10. I was very excited. The next morning, it wouldn't recognize any disks, so I processed a return. The seller contacted me, apologized, and offered an immediate credit.I don't know if I got a bad unit, but, for the price, its probably worth trying because if you get a bad one, they'll make the return easy, and if you get a good one then, hey, great price.

Quick fix for MacBook
It is very troublesome to not have DVD drive handy on new Apple laptops, especially from time to time I have to deal with data / songs in DVD/CD and sometimes need to burn data into DVD for archiving purpose. This drive is external that means I can move it around to serve multiple laptops / computers. It is a good tool for office because it reads and burns data quick and quiet. It indeed require an adapter for new MacBook because there is only USB-C on new MacBook, but that won't impact any usability.

Barely Used and Won't Open
I bought this to use on the infrequent times that I had a CD to play on my computer. I've used it a couple of times. Every other time, it is kept safely stored in a drawer. I went to plug it in and now it won't open. I'm going to write to the company, but I'm going to have to break it open to get my CD out. Super disappointed at the quality.

Did not work with my MacBook Pro 2016 operating on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3. Felt very fragile but I would have lived with it since I expected to be a light user. I returned it (no problem there) and bought theĀ Aluminum External USB DVD+RW,-RW Super Drive for Apple--MacBook Air, Pro, iMac, Mini . It's more expensive but feels more substantial due to it's aluminum body. Also, it works.

Right priced and works great
The drive in my all in one desktop failed and when I looked for the HP replacement is was over 75 dollars. This unit works great and the price was very reasonable. Installation was a breeze.

works great once you know the trick - for macbook air ...
works great once you know the trick - for macbook air (computer I was trying to use it with) and perhaps some other macs you MUST plug the computer into the wall with the electrical cord or it will not recognize the disc drive/ let you burn CDs or play DVDs/ CDs.

Glitches
Works intermittently. Have to hold the door closed to make sure it works.
