Great intro to bankruptcy book
I'm in a Bankruptcy Paralegal certificate program and it's part of the required books; actually have learned quite a bit to the point the attorneys I work with recommended the other paralegal and/or new associates to pick it up

HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH WITH IT
But if you do, this book will answer all the questions you have and then some you have not thought of. Of course there is not substitute for a good attorney, but this book will certainly put you at ease. One point the book makes that I want to stress is, don't think of bk as a last resort, i.e. don't suffer for years only to end up doing it anyway. If bk is the best answer follow your heart, but this book also gives you alternatives worth exploring. My own bit of advise, don't try and do it yourself, and beware of the $500.00 guy, they rely on volume, and just wont put the effort into every case like a good council will. Good Luck!!

Got prep for your meeting with the laywer.
This book will help you be conversant on some complex legal subject. You won't be able to do your own bankruptcy, but you'll be so much further ahead than talking 'cold' to an attorney. Did you know lawyers lie? Yes they do. I met with three different lawyers, and they all gave me a different line about my financial status. You will need to make some decisions yourself, and this book is a good resource.

Debtors Beware
As a former (recovering and remorseful)banker I wanted to see what draconian revisions the credit card and finance industry put in the law back at the beginning of Geo. W's first term. Loke most of todays legislation, these revisions were written by the industry. Hmmm.Does that sound like fascism??? This book was well put together and very helpful. A word of caution, "Don't try this at Home". Read for information, then find a Board certified bankruptcy Specialist.

Upside down and cut off.
Someone needs to inspect the finished product in the printing and binding process since the first several pages were upside-down and cut off.

Great information
I wanted to give a close friend some heads up information about filing for bankruptcy before she sees an attorney. This book spells everything out very concisely. She really appreciated the points I was able to pass along to her.

... recent publication of this book but it still had great information. I read it cover to cover
I had hoped to find a more recent publication of this book but it still had great information. I read it cover to cover.

Good for Consumer Debt, but otherwise limited
I am a big fan of the "Dummies" books. But in this case, the book seems to focus mainly on consumer debt. If you are dealing with a lawsuit, this book does not help. These days, anyone can sue anyone with assets, and there are no limits to the amount they can ask for. This is a growing problem and bankruptcy books should be addressing this problem.
