good and bad
Neither of the loofah that I received have a string - no big deal, just not as advertised.Although both are of the same length, one was very large in circumference while the other is very small - again, no big deal.Definitely a natural loofah - love that!Worst thing was the smell! From the first use, it smelled like a dead wet dog. Not a smell you want to even think will remain on your skin. I boiled it in several chemicals and over time it has lost this smell.Overall, I adjusted to what I got, but I am left very curious about what would have caused that smell!

stiff but can be softened. good price.
some people here are sharing that the loofah was too stiff even after softening it, and that has not been my experience. it is also a bit smaller than i thought, but it is a good practical size. out of the package it was very hard, but i poured boiling water over it and let it soak there overnight, and in the morning it was ready for a shower. it is a bit rough but that is what a real 'natural' loofah is supposed to be--it is great at removing dead skin and scrubbing off dirt if we have been in the garden. i would recommend this loofah, and just try putting boiling water over it (which does NOT mean cooking it in a pan of boiling water, but rather pouring the water over) and see if that helps.

too soft
I thought these might exfoliate a little better. Even when I don't wet them, but just soap them up a little with liquid soap, they are very squishy and not scratchy enough for me. I am a man and am just trying some options to see if I can improve my skin and stop some itchyness. While these work fine as sponges I will have to turn to something else to get a really hard scrub.

Softness remind me of an Egyptian loofah
I bought this as a substitute until I received my Egyptian loofah that I had ordered and was waiting to receive via mail. I was pleasantly surprise at the texture of this loofah when wet with hot water. It softened nicely and my skin appreciated having this as a back up until I got my original favorite. When this got soft I cut it down the middle to make it larger and I then really appreciated this loofah. It exfoliated my skin nicely from neck to toe. If you use this on your body I would not recommend you use this on you face. Liquid soap works best for this loofah. Enjoy!

silky smooth!
The works great. I put a little liquid soap on the loofah and go to town scrubbing (even on my face). Once the loofah is soaked through with water, it's actually pretty soft, so it's a very gentle exfoliation. I always come out silky smooth. Once a week does it. I tend to use this before I put on sunless tanner, so it goes on evenly. Great buy! But I'm not sure how long I should use it before it's time to change it out. Great product!

I don't understand this product.
This loofah doesn't lather. It must have some crazy magic absorbency power such that upon adding soap it disappears into oblivion. So you wind up with a very stiff, soapless Pillsbury-biscuit-can-looking sponge that feels like sandpaper on your skin. I mean, some people may like that, but I prefer the actual sight of soap on my body, and, you know, that general "clean" feeling. I even tried soaking this biscuit can in hot water over night to soften it up, but to no avail. So I think I'll stick to a standard poof loofah, and this will hang unused on my shower caddy as more of a conversation piece.

Exactly as described - Loofah is supposed to be rough!
After reading reviews on this product extensively, I had to laugh. Some people obviously don't know what loofah is.I bought this because I wanted a tough, hard, rough scrubber to do major exfoliation. This product does exactly what loofah is supposed to do... slough off dead skin cells and leave you with the new layers of skin. Yes, folks, that makes your skin red.I am so glad I bought this for myself because hubby didn't really get what I meant when I said I wanted a loofah back scrubber and he bought me an exfoliating, manmade back scrubber with a handle. Had it had natural loofah on it... I would have swooned. Alas, it was some kind of rough green sponge that reminded me of a pot scrubber. Blech. If you know what loofah is and what loofah does, buy this product. If not, please don't buy it and then review it saying it was too rough!

Not the quality i was hoping
When it first came it felt rock hard but i knew the water would soften it. One thing is it did soften but still remained rather stiff, so it doesnt really shape to the shape of ur body and its very annoying. Second thing, due to the softening the scrubbing doesnt feel like a good loofah. The reason i gave it two stars and not one is because i guess this might work for other people, but personally i hate it.
