Fantastic easy read
Crichton's style of prose flows so easily that it is a pleasure to read. If you want something that is exiting and does not take any intellectual capacity he's the guy. The story follows twists and turns and the character development is interesting. I really enjoyed this book and immediately ordered another of his.

Good for a beach holiday read though
Very interesting plot though not one of his most engaging novels, in my opinion. Good for a beach holiday read though.

Breathlessly gripping
I've never read anything by Michael Crichton before, and this isn't usually my sort of thing. However it's been a long time since I was so gripped by a book. I found it very exciting, thought provoking and actually quite well written. In the last few chapters I was so gripped I literally lost track of time. I'm now sorry that my rollercoaster ride is over. I'm looking forward to reading something else by this author.

Really good but fell flat
THis was a brilliant book, but in my opinion was a bit of a let down at the end. I found the whole book quite exciting, but the ending, while tying up loose ends, felt a little flat to me and could have been handled much better

Love this book!!!
This is my first ever Michael Crichton book ever and I must admit, its different from the books I usually pick up which is Young Adult. However with that being said I'm so glad I gave this book a chance! It has a wonderfully unique set of characters that I love so much! The plot was amazing but to be honest, it's the characters that kept me wanting to know more. I can definitely see myself rereading this in the future!

Complex, gripping and a real page turner. Well ...
Complex, gripping and a real page turner. Well draw characters with lots of twists. The ending did stretch credibility a little but most enjoyable.

Bit disappointing
Read one of Michael Crichton's books whilst on holiday and really enjoyed it. I quite like sci-fi, but this book I found to be not half as exciting. However, the story is good, but it wasn't a couldn't put downer! I'll read another of his books though.

what an incredible imagination!
This just emphasizes what an incredible imagination the author has. To have created the sphere and its overwhelming power to control things is incredible! This is one of his best!!!

Highly recommended but not for the faint of heart
Like Creighton's other books, this is an excellent read. Difficult to put down once started.

intriga
Éste es el libro más interesante que he leído de Michael Crichton. la intriga comienza desde el principio hasta el fin y no puedes dejar de leerlo porque te sorprende a medida que vas avanzando en la lectura.

A great book, 100% Michael Crichton
He's just one of those writers I can't read enough of. And this book was no exception. It's got all the drama and intrigue that you'd expect it to have. The plot shares some similarity with 2001: A Space Odyssey, so you'll enjoy this book if you liked that book or movie. A great read without a doubt.

Detailed and thrilling
This is my first review in English. And this is my first English book in years. It all started in early November when I decided to improve my English and get back to the level I once had around the time of my “Matura” (high-school diploma), respectively surpass this level if possible. And it was possible. Also, Crichton’s English is not complicated, therefor this book was a good choice to start with (but I didn't know that before). In fact, Crichton’s style reads very fluently. Despite my work and one other book I’m currently reading in German (Sibylle Berg’s fascinating, magnificent and tremendous “Grm”), I finished reading the book in a week.I always loved the movie “Sphere” (and back then I had a crush on Sharon Stone too) - which I’ve seen a couple of times, the last time some years ago - and I always wanted to read the book, but not in German. I knew right from the start that I only wanted to read it in English (same goes for some other books and I’m currently starting to buy most of the books in English if possible). But due to my laziness and some other problems it took me a couple of years to finally read it.It was worth the wait and the book is very good, interesting, readable and much more detailed than the movie. In some few cases maybe too detailed, but that’s okay, that's why I, and I guess all of us, read books and that's what makes the difference to the movies. I won’t write any word about the plot, a single word too much could ruin everything, especially for the ones who don’t even know the movie. But interestingly, the end of the book is slightly different from the end of the movie (I prefer the book's ending). What I most liked about “Sphere” was that it scared me a little, although mostly I knew what was coming. And, except for some few pages, it was exciting all along. I really loved the psychological debates and arguments and the two or three twists. Crichton did a good research on biology as well. The only thing I really didn’t like was how Beth was characterized. In the end, her character seemed too one-dimensional and simple to me, that wasn't necessary, there was more potential and I was a little disappointed. But that was the only disappointment in the whole book.Overall a clear 5 stars and a big recommendation for this suspenseful SciFi-Thriller.
