Favourite book on enamelling
I am a begginer at enamelling. I find this book very useful to look up info and to get inspiration. I bought it because it was recommended by a tallented experienced enameller with whom I had a one day intro course and it is a lot better than the other books I had bought previously. It covers so much of the techniques and has some beutiful examples. I can find something new each time I look at it.

Beautiful book with beautiful pieces to inspire any jeweller
This book is both practical and beautiful and as a jewellery student I continually refer back to it when designing enamel work. It provides some brilliant contextual references which is just what I look for in a book as you want to be inspired by the technique and this is only possible with some good examples. Some beautiful photos of enamelled pieces and all the info on enamelling you need to get started.

handy little book
This is a useful little book for an overview of simple enamelling techniques but it only beirfly mentions more advanced work and if you wanted to try these, for example, scraffito or using liquid enamels, youd need another book if you were relying in it and teaching yourself. Also I ordered a new copy but although the one I have is in good condition it evidently is not new. Not a problem through and it arrived quickly.

Nice small book, overpriced for it's size
It's an interesting book with a very good selection of illustrations of items with a contemporary taste. The text is clear and filled with interesting tips, someway it give more real informations than others larges book. However for the foliage the book is overpriced.

A nice compact enameling book to learn about author's approach to enamel art.
This compact book is a well written with introduction to various enameling techniques used by the author in easy to understand manner. Lots of colored photos and illustrations. This is not a very detailed book like Linda Darty’s The Art of Enameling (which is a great book!) but a very good resource to learn about author’s approach to contemporary enameling art. I recently bought this book, attended Ruth Ball’s public talk and a hands-on workshop in Northern California and found this book to be a great resource for me. Highly recommended to advance your enameling skills.

DISAPPOINTED
DISAPPOINTED!!! Ruth Ball produces some of the most creative and exciting contemporary enamels on the planet. NONE of those pieces are pictured, much less described, in this book. I guessing that most enamelists that bought this book, bought it because of her name and work, andwere expecting, at least SOME, "how to" instructions. There are NONE!However, that said, if your a real beginner this is a "good", but not "great" book. Definitely worth reading and having on your shelf. In my opinion, the three best books are: 1) The Art of Enameling, 2) Enameling on Precious Metals, and 3) The Art of Fine Enameling. The last two can be a bitpricy, but worth it. Keep searching Amazon, or send $3.00, and have your local library order them for you through the "Inter-Library Loan" program.Hopefully, some day, Ruth will write the book we've ALL been waiting for.Fire on,Paul McClain
