The Chew: Food. Life. Fun.

Note: This review is for the paperback BOOK edition. The Kindle edition has fewer recipes!I am a big fan of "The Chew". It is a program that I record and look forward to in the evenings when I watch television. This book is divided by the seasons and features recipes from each of the hosts. Every recipe has an indicator bar that denotes cooking time, skill level, prep time and cost. Icons indicate whether a recipe is "Light & Healthy", "Simple Italian", "Viewer's Choice", "Two-Fer (Two Meals in One)", "5-in-5" (5 ingredients in 5 minutes), "Kid Friendly" or "Cocktail". Most (but not all) feature a photo. I purchased this book as a gift for my mother because a) she deserved it and b) she is OBSESSED with "The Chew" and has now hooked me onto the show as well. I was initially impressed with the cost of the item as it was very reasonable. When I received the cookbook I took a moment to flip through it to see what my mom was getting and I have to say I was immediately compelled to read it for myself. I sat down with a glass of wine and pen ready and read through the entire book in a sitting. Not only are many of the recipes enticing and sound easy and delicious, but the additional material from the cast with individual interviews and their own interpretations of the holidays,classic dishes and family traditions is fun and personal. I finally wrapped the book up for my mom and she got a good chuckle that I read it first and has since finished it herself and cooked up 2 of the recipes - dad gave them rave reviews! Who knew a TV show cookbook could make the whole family so happy?!

I loved this show. I'm glad to have the recipes and remember all the fun.

My mother watches the show daily. Loves the folks and their interactions, and the recipes. She loves the book and the behind the scenes details. She likes the recipes. She is making a list of what we are going to make together.I gave it 5 stars because she loves the show, people, and recipes. Keep in mind this is not a 'traditional' type recipe book with an index and nothing but recipes organized in a methodical way.This book tries to capture the way the show is on air..... with the anecdotes, stories, pictures, and chefs' interactions. If you are looking strictly for a recipe book, you ''may'' be disappointed. I gave it 5 stars because I think it does capture what the entire show is about... people, stories, and food.

I love the show and am impressed how simple a lot of the receipes are but reading them in their cookbook there seem to be a lot more steps. I love receipes like 5 ingredients in 5 minutes and there were none in the book. I have made a few of the receipes and the one people love is the onion dip from Clinton ---- the only thing I added was Montreal steak spice...... people cannot get enough of it. I love watching them cook and I seem to forget that they are chefs and I am not even though I am a very good cook myself... I will try a few of the receipes in the book but have not done so yet.

Being a loyal fan of The Chew TV show, I was delighted to see that a cook book was published with some of the superb recipes that aired on various shows. The TV show is my absolute favorite, and every day I run home to see it on my lunch hour. The cast of The Chew has all the ingredients of a successful show. The hour just speeds along and the recipes are fantastic. What makes it enjoyable to watch is how terrific all the cast members are and how respectfully they treat each other - egos have been left at the door. Love, love the show and hope it continues for a long time. We can look forward to another cook book, one for every season. Thank you.P.S. I have tried so many of the recipes shown on the show and all turned out great.

I watch the program and get all excited about making a recipe but it seems so much easier on TV than in person. Also, I usually can't find the recipes they are making in the book! I have to go to the website and by then the phone is ringing, the cat wants in or out and it's time for my darling husband to come home. By then, I have forgotten what I want to make or look up. Maybe they should offer the cookbook a year before they have the program aired. So, I guess I am not completely thrilled with it. Oh yeah, one more thing, the hints given on the show aren't anywhere I can find them. Sighhhh. OK. I am a C student (or was), now I'm just old. :)

Good fun cookbook from my favourite TV cooking show.Have successfully tried a number of the recipes and can reference while watching the program.

Carrying product was a great choice, the recipes and idea's in the book are valuable and fun. Not to mention show is terrific

Love the tv show and love the book! They are all amazing at what they do...cook, craft and create and excite!
