Manix 2 Folding Pocket Knife, PlainEdge

OVERVIEW:I have now had this knife for a few months and I must say that I enjoy it as an every day carry knife. I have used this for a wide variety of tasks such as cutting down cardboard at work, to cutting many lengths of paracord for teaching classes. It cuts smoothly and is easily controlled due to the excellent jimping that catches your fingers better than any of my other knives. The blade is of excellent quality (what you would expect from s30v), I really like the blade's grind and profile, it has a constant taper that is quite thin but still very strong and good for cutting through thicker objects.Features:*G10 handle is excellent quality and grips nicely in the hand but slides easily out of the pocket. The pocket clip is also quite firm and does not jostle when clipped to the pocket.*Ball Bearing Lock is VERY satisfying on each open! The click it makes when it is locked is addicting and I often finding myself opening and closing it when I am bored. It is also quite a strong and reliable lock due to the coiled spring design as opposed to Benchmade's Omega clip which will fail after years of use. People have complained about this knife being too difficult to close, however I believe that these people were attempting to open it with just their thumb. You are supposed to pull from both sides of the release using your thumb and index finger.*S30V steel is among the best quality out there. Takes an edge and holds it. I quite literally shaved half of my left arm from displaying this knife when people asked about it. BTW it also comes with a razor sharp edge so it is hassle free out of the box.*Made In "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth" unlike many other Spyderco knives.Major Complaints:I have no "Major" complaints at all with this knife, the only thing I can say is that I wish it could be more than just Tip-Up carry? I do prefer Tip-Down, but have gotten used to Tip-Up.Summary:Beautiful knife with a sleek and very maneuverable feel. Excellent for fine work as well as hard cutting. Has become my new favorite folding knife due to it's excellent feel and build quality. Only complaint is Tip-Up only carry, but not worth knocking off a star for something as trivial as that.

I've got a bunch of very nice knives, but if I could only have one, the Manix 2 would be my choice. It ain't pretty, but looks aside, it has a perfectly sized, do-everything blade, solid construction that is designed for hard work (sprung like a dump truck), good steel - sharp as a razor and easy to sharpen - and arguably the best locking system on the planet. I'm not sure what more you could ask of a pocket cutting tool. Other knives have many of these features, but to my knowledge, no other has the ball-bearing locking system of the Manix 2. Yes the spring is tight- but it will break in. If you want a fidget toy, then buy a plunge lock. If you want superb strength that you can depend on, buy it, break it in and use it.

This Knife is awesome. I initially got the low end tenacious model and then a friend showed me his manix 2 and the difference in weight and quality was massive, so I returned it and added another $100 and got the all black 8" manix. You can tell the quality is top notch. I love playing with it. The people complaining about it not opening dont understand you dont open it by pulling the spring lock back and flicking (although you can if you have finger strength) What you do is use your index finger and push up on the hole with a slight wrist flick and it flings open very smoothly. Watch the video I submitted.Also.. you may need to blue loctite the pivot screw. If you play with it alot it may work out if it was not factory locked. It caused slight side to side wiggle. Apply blue loctite and slight tighten screw until no play, but still swings freely with spring fully pulled back.

So, just a bit of background, I've pretty much carried a knife for most of the past 20 years, my EDC knives were only a select few and they've served me well. My first was a SOG "MagnaDot"...made in seki Japan, that SOG was an excellent "dirt Knife". After I retired it (though it still has many years left in it), I went on to a Kershaw "Cyclone"....I loved the assisted opening, great knife, but it got stolen. Alas.After much lurking on forums and knowing what and why I carry, I decided on the Manix 2, HO-LY toledo.....this guy has far surpassed my expectations in every category. Fit and finish, DIALED. The overall design, I got used to it's handling very , very quickly. One hand operation took some practice and now it's second nature, even with my off-hand, I can one-hand open and close.....it's company edge is decent, I'm looking forward to it's first shar[pening. Oh the materials are up to snuff as well, I got the S30V blade.That's the long and the short off it, you can find all sorts of specs and technical reviews elsewhere. I use my knives, I'm not a collector, I'm looking forward to many years of use from this guy, and can't wait to see how it breaks in. Love Spyderco knives! I have owned 2 of the Manix 2s now and have been super happy with the quality of both. (I lost my first one which is why I even had to BUY a second one).Blade stays sharp and handle has great grip!Locking mechanism has always been a bit finicky and takes some getting used to, but I honestly love it now.Would recommend!

I can not find any faults with this knife. I looked up reviews on You Tube and there were positive reviews for the Manix 2 that influence my purchase. in the reviews one of the fall backs was the weight of the knife. I like the weight and the secure grip you have the the G 10 handles and the jimping of the blade and handles. I did carry a Griptilian before this purchase. Hands down the Manix 2 is a better knife in my opinion. It holds an edge and is easy to sharpen with the Spyderco triangle sharpening system I use. The Griptilian had a hollow sound and feel to it with the resin plastic like handles.The Manix 2 is a solid feeling in the hand. The Nonslip G10 handle and the jimping gives you a secure grip on the knife and great blade control. The black DLC coating on the blade with the gold writing, the black G-10 handles screws and pocket clip makes it a really nice looking knife.Now my EDC knives are when wearing heavier pants is the Manix 2 and for a lighter weight knife I carry the Spyderco Sage 2. Both are outstanding product

Clearly a well made knife with good blade material and smooth action. I would say the spring on the release button is on the strong side and takes more effort than any knife i have used.

I have had this knife for about a year now and it's great. The definition of a great knife is that if you lost it you would buy it again and honestly I would. The flat ground blade lends to this knife being extremely slicey and is hair shaving sharp out of the box. It's not difficult to sharpen either even if you are only average at knife sharpening. Even better if you take the edge to a 20 degree angle instead of the 30 degree edge that it comes with from the factory.. The ball bearing lock is incredibly strong and it does have a bit of a break in period where the release is a bit stiff but given the fidget factor is extreme it wears in nicely pretty quickly. This was my first spyderco and it's made me want to start collecting more spyderco knives when I can afford it..If you are thinking about getting this or a benchmade don't question it and go with this one instead, you can thank me later

Ich habe auf ein tolles Messer gehofft, welches ich meiner Sammlung hinzufügen kann, aber ich habe ein Messer bekommen, welches ich garnicht bestellt hatte. Zudem war es schlecht verarbeitet und das geht nicht wenn man für 200€ + ein Messer kauft.
