Versatile... includes true manual mode and plumb line.
I did a lot of research for a Cross Line Level. I actually purchased a Bosch and though it was a fine unit, it did not have a "manual" mode that was stated in the description. I returned it to Amazon, which was so easy it reminds me of why I buy on Amazon. This Johnson level has all the features I was looking for, including the manual mode that allows you to lock the pendulum and use the level for angles, such as stair rails. In addition, it has a plumb line. Instruction manual also gives process to confirm that unit is level, square and plumb. It doe not have a way to make adjustments, but I am confident that if it were to loose any of those Johnson's product support would help. Highly recommend at this point. I see no reason that this level will not last a very long time with proper care.

Useless
The laser line on this was incredibly thick an the line was wildly out of level. No idea what this laser level could really be used for. Maybe you can get lucky and get one thats level and then its fine.

Very good compared to others
This laser level is excellent, you can choose just one set of crosshair or switch in the additional side vertical. I have used it for putting up shelves all around a room so that they meet up perfectly at the same height everywhere and also for laying tiles in a diamond pattern across a large floor. I love it. The only odd thing is that it not only doesn't come with a hard case, but Johnson don't even make or supply a case for it. I bought an X-Treme S3 2500 hard case for it and made my own foam insert so it is well protected in my toolbag.

Itโs ok
I think this is a good laser for the $, except the laser isnโt that strong. Not super useful over 20 feet and itโs dim at that point. Wouldnโt be able to use outside. Next time I would pay more $ for a green laser. This one is more for occasional use only

Cross Hairs and a separate Laser vertical 'Plumb' line
This self-aligning laser cross-hair level features a separate vertical 'plumb' laser line. The Plumb line can be operated either with or without the cross-hair lines and vice versa. It was quite visible when used inside my house, but direct sunlight washed out the beams and made them hard to see. I used Red Laser Enhancement filter goggles, and they helped me see the beams better. The Laser cross-hairs can be 'locked' so the lines can be tilted, but it takes a try or two to get used to doing it. Afet you do, you will need some other tool to chech the actual angle of those lines. NOTE that when the level is off by over 6 degrees, the lines do FLASH, so intentionally tilted lines always flash. It' a bit annoying, but it's actually a feature to remind you 'Out Of Level'.

Fully featured value
This is a great value. First use spanned 10 feet horizontal axis and was exactly level end to end. Great unit for 2-axis applications that is also simple to operate. Changing modes is quick via a single button. The only change I would like to see is the ability to turn off the laser without locking the pendulum. I like to be able to turn off the laser to save battery power on long pauses in the project. Having to lock to shut down is only a minor inconvenience.

Auto leveling is not accurate
I purchased this laser line for a basement remodel. Having used it for almost a year I now feel I know enough to give a realistic review. The bottom line is, if you want to use this to aid in approximating level, it works. If you want to rely on the level for actual work - DON'T !!!!!!! The horizontal laser line droops within a foot or two of the center cross. I would not purchase it again. I would not recommend it to anyone wanting to use it in construction. What I did use it for, which helped, was identifying where studs were when hanging cabinets.

OK If You Don't Need A Tall Y-Axis Line
There were several things I liked about the product: 1 - Low price point in comparison to other similar products, like the Stanley or Bosch options 2 - Look and feel 3 - 90ยบ square line But there were two things about it that I didn't like, the second issue being the dealbreaker 1 - It took me a while to figure out that projecting the plumb line that is advertised is accomplished only by the side 90ยบ angle laser. This side laser does project all the way up onto the ceiling. So, not a dealbreaker for this issue in particular, as the device can be turned sideways when I need to plumb a wall. But, just a little strange that I can't just do this out the front. 2 - The forward-facing Y-axis line only projects a few feet above the crosshatch (see picture). I don't know why this doesn't go at least 8', if not higher in order to create a forward-facing plumb line. I was hanging a mirror in the bathroom, and the line went just high enough above the sink (with the laser level set back about 4') to where I could make the mark needed. Seems like this would be a major challenge for renovation framing, which is the main reason I purchased. All in all, they've got a great thing going here if they can address the issue of the vertical Y-axis line and get it to project higher, if not even having it make the exact same plumb line type that the 90ยบ angle line can do.
