Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away [DVD] [2012]

Never having had the opportunity to see them live (as well as being prohibitively expensive to take the family there) but often wondered what they were like.....this gives you as broad a picture of their outfit and what they do as anyone but wealthy diehard fans will ever see. It covers excerts from a host of different shows including some of their permanent residencies in Las Vegas - one of which is performed over water where the costumes alone cost £30 million and the stage set a further £130 million!! Some of the performances have quite a dark almost nightmarish feel about them, one or two are quite erotic (though done very tastefully and fully costumed), but all are visually gripping and entertaining - there are some incredibly talented and creative individuals working for them. Each act is cleverly spliced together, and the whole bound by a non verbal story line featuring a female who falls for a high wire male who perform an arial ballet towards the end that is both beautiful and breathtaking. Recomend.

I ordered this to see how it looked in 3D - and I was absolutely delighted! A must for your 3D DVD collection. Apart from the interesting story line , the acts are stunning, as is to be expected with Cirque du Soleil. It was nice to be able to view it close up. My only disappointment was in the special features on the second Blue Ray disc- it did not really go into detail about the way it was filmed. However, I am glad that Cameron did show the wires that were used to support the players in the most of the acts. Loved the quirky characters and costumes in the Beatles numbers.I envisage showing this to a great many friends of all ages; who may have seen their staged performances, but never close up in 3D. Such a treat!

Very pleased with the purchase. I love Cirque du Soleil last 30 years. This seller is very honest. Not only they informed about the marks on DVD on amazon.co.uk, but before sending me DVD they troubled themselves to send me the message to ensure I am aware of scratch marks on DVD. They didn’t matter, quality of DVD is excellent and I watched the amazing performance directed by THIS James Cameron. Cirque du Soleil live performance cost £100 and more (and rightly so!), I can watch the performance for as many times as I please for a fiver. Bargain! Very pleased with both the seller and the product.

If you have a 3d tv and Blu Ray player and you don't have this in your collection, WHY NOT????? This was one on the first 3d presentations I ever watched having never gone to see a 3d movie at the cinema. Having seen this first on the now defunct SKY 3D channel, I was blown away. I believe that SKY converted it to 3D which in my opinion never gives a true 3D experience. This presentation of the performance is way better and so worth having in your collection. Even if you are not a fan of Cirque Du Soleil, as I was, this production will captivate you from start to end.Please buy this for the sake of your 3D TV!

I've never been lucky enough to see a live Cirque du Soleil show so as a result I have most of them on DVD. This was not what I was expecting as it is a film rather than a filmed live show but that does not detract from its charm in any way. It has magic and delight wherever you look and I would say it is a must for all hard core Cirque fans. It is just different.

Perfection is the only word that I would use to describe this blu ray. I, like a great number of other people, have never had the opportunity to see this troupe live, so it is great to watch it on blu ray. The whole story from beginning to end is captivating and yes I did have a tear in my eye. If you have never seen any dvd by this group, then, buy the blu ray, turn on the surround sound and immerse yourself in a world of utter disbelief and be amazed at what the human body is capable of.

From the outset of this film, I was captivated by the young lady's journey through lavish stage sets and fantastic landscapes as she followed 'the aerialist' as he vanished into a strange and mystical world. This production incorporated some of the finest performances I have ever seen by Cirque du Soleil performers, including some amazing sets and extravagant costumes. Every Cirque du Soleil show that I have seen has been greatly enhanced by the accompanying music and this one is no exception, which is especially impressive when listened to through a good Dolby Digital sound system. Highly recommended.
