Beautiful, yet delicate
Comes out looking incredible, but not the easiest to turn. Sort of a delicate wood, bring 4000 years old and all. When it gets a bit thinner, go extra slow and be extra careful. But like I said, comes out looking incredible, totally worth it.

Special wood color and character
I love the history, color and character of the wood. Although higher cost the black color on the wood is unique and adds a bit of the past to my projects.

great
They seem a little lighter then ones that I receive from another supplier

With some patience will make a beautiful pen
These blanks are somewhat fragile. I use sharp tools to get it to about 75% done then sand paper the rest of the way. If you use patience you’ll end up with a stunning pen. Very unique.

Great for pen turners
These are great pen blanks for pen turners but you really need to stabilize the word. It makes beautiful pens.

Look incredible
These are amazing looking. They are oak in grain and durability, but have this charcoal grey color imbedded into them. They turn very well and finish just as well. Very contemporary appearing- while old at the same time. The card included tells about how this lumber was harvested. Not certain how much marketing there is, but I'll try to hold back my skepticism. Great product

Turn lightly, somewhat fragile. I would be too at 6000 years old!
VERY nice looking wood when turned

Too brittle
it’s neat wood, but I found that both for drilling the holes and turning the wood it was just too brittle. I understand that this stuff is in the first stage of fossilization, so maybe that’s it. It’s a neat story behind it, but personally if I want a black pen I’ll go with Ebony wood.
