The pubic response to this cd commercially is so weird. It went to the top 10 on both charts yet I didn't stay there long enough to even go GOLD and the singles didn't make the top 20 on either charts, yet the Grammys recognized her duet with R. Kelly which is a hell of a song. But this was a good cd overall than the previous 2 in my opinion. I would've gave it 5 stars but it wasn't until I heard her song with Gorgon City "All Night" which was slamming and realized if that track would've been added to her cd, I think it would've make her cd totally more well rounded.

4 1/2 stars. I don't know why this album hasn't had more success. She released two or three hot singles and the entire album is beautiful. This is the first time I've ever purchased a Jennfier Hudson cd and I was not disappointed. She might've received backlash for stepping outside of her comfort zone and getting with better producers for a more diverse sound. She can tour off this album along with her previous singles but this album has a lot of good music.

This is a different sound for Jennifer. It is good! I have listened to it several times since it came about a month ago and enjoyed it every time. I started following her career when she won American Idol. I love her music, her acting and her.

When it has honestly came down to female singers, they just do not even ignite aflame the way they used to. Especially with artists like Beyonce' Knowles and Rihanna being more like hams, and being severely overexposed, that sadly the niche of female vocalists aren't really even strong as they used. In fact, most of today's female singers are honestly very weak. For Jennifer Hudson though, she can honestly deliver well in her voice, and she has had a lot to celebrate in her life this past year. For one, she became the first former American Idol alumni to receive a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame, and with a sense of happiness in her life, and singing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2013, knocking it out the park with a stellar and intimate performance. Now, she has a lot of music to follow it up with her work. While her last album, I Remember Me did very well, and brought out a strong heart into her soul the question is how does she follow that up. Well, it is shown here in her latest work.J-Hud, Jennifer Hudson's latest album brings in more of a dance approach and throwback rhythms of old school R&B to her songs. She shines mostly well into her songs on this album, into a lot of the tracks in the album. The songs are all mastered nicely, and do show that Jennifer has to pull out cheap stunts like Beyonce' did to release a album, just shine for herself. The song range from the dance rhythms of the 80's in Dangerous, to the vibrant octave on It's Your World with R. Kelly, to the simplicity of the heart and the piano with Moan. Other songs like I Can't Describe (The Way I Feel) and Walk It Out with Timberland work nobly well. Yet there are a few gripes about the record. One of them is that the album is absolutely short, and could've brought more from the others to try and keep it with Jennifer on the songs. But for Jennifer she works it out very well.Overall, J-Hud is a good follow-up to a good record in her career. She is definitely a songstress who isn't to be labeled, and doesn't feel like she has to pull herself out to really make it worth while. While it isn't as strong as her influences had with remarkable albums in R&B like Whitney Houston and My Love Is Your Love, it definitely is a good buy for Jennifer Hudson fans. At least unlike Katy Perry or Rihanna, it is a better R&B album, and a good record. LOVED IT

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this cd but I was pleasantly surprised. I really the duet with R Kelly and the first cut just sets it off. If you purchase this cd it sounds like Jennifer. She seems to like that music that verges into a club sound. It works for her really well with this album.

Girl, can sing! I loved so many of her songs. But, what a pleasant surprise in the duet with R. Kelley! That was the jam, very soulful and the beat was incredible. Those two sound "awesome together!"

I love Jennifer Hudson. I had been waiting for this CD to be released. I played this CD in my car for three months straight. I drove to Oregon from Nevada, and it was great to listen, and rock to during my trip. My 17 year old twin grandchildren in Oregon loved it, too. I even caught my 73 year old husband rocking out. He made the trip to Oregon with me.Buy it if you are a Jennifer Hudson fan.

Mmm.... I really like Jennifer Hudson, she has amazing talent, but but this album I don't like so much. The only song that really stands out is 'where you at?' The other songs just kinda blur into each other and seem pretty mediocre in comparison to similar artists. I just don't 'get it' as a collection of songs if that makes sense, just seems a bit of a mish mash. I'll definitely buy the next album but I hope it's a bit more of a showcase for her talent rather than an experiment, which I get the sense this might have been.

Hated content of music. All so beaty and similar.

This is the 2nd album CD I have of her and I greatly enjoy listening to every piece of music on it. Unlike other of her contemporaries, JH has stuck to what she knows she can do extremely well and I think it shows in what she's produced. Great music, easy listening and most enjoyable.

It's a good album. Some songs show Jennifer's vocal ability, others are more cash in. Still a good listen.
