Compared to other candies I've tried here, these ones feature a distinct consistency and a robust spicy kick. It certainly takes a lot of effort to push the candy treat out of their containers, but what you get is a bold tangy sweetness with that underlying spicy heat. You get three different varieties, which all offer their own distinct flavor on top of this sweet, tangy, savory, spicy base.Overall, a super unique treat that is just as fun for kids as it was for me!

Pelon Pelo Rico: A Unique Candy ExperienceWell, here’s a new experience for me, made by the Hershey Company.The packaging is as unique as the flavors. It’s like a push-pop bottle that squeezes out candy with a gritty yet runny fruit roll-up consistency through a grid, creating noodle-like strands. Figuring out how to get the candy out took me a minute—the cap and bottle are the same color, and there are no instructions indicating you need to remove the cap first. Once the cap is off, you press the white bottom part of the container into the colored section.This candy isn’t exactly kid-friendly. It takes some muscle to push the candy out. Especially on this chilly first day of winter, I imagine kids might struggle and end up making a sticky mess.The mini size is great for portion control, but definitely not for sharing. Licking the grid at the top of the container to get the candy makes sharing awkward—worse than sharing a lollipop! Plus, when you’re done, the leftover packaging will leave your space looking like the aftermath of a Fourth of July party.As for the flavors, they’re bold, tangy, and spicy, just like the packaging promises:Watermelon: Sweet and “watermelony” with a tart kick.Mango: A blend of tamarind sweetness and tangy notes.Chamoy: Tamarind-based, tart, tangy, and spicy all in one bite.Overall, Pelon Pelo Rico is spicy and unique candy experience.Just be ready to put in a little effort to enjoy it!
