Update: after using for a few days this sharpener has lived up to my expectations, so I've upgraded my original 4* rating to 5*. With some reviews specifically stating that the plug is not UK & others making no mention of what is a rather important element of the product, I asked the question on here and received two very helpful replies confirming that it does not have a UK plug and an adaptor is required. So I went ahead and purchased together with a US to UK adaptor. This is a fabulous sharpener - set to the sharpest point I put it through its paces with various brands of coloured pencils (Holbein, Polychromos, Derwent Artists, Luminance, Derwent Drawing). I expected the Drawing to maybe cause an issue being the thickest core and very soft, but it was no problem; lovely sharp point. Auto stop prevents over sharpening and it is very easy to empty. So I'm delighted with my purchase but would suggest to Amazon that it would be more useful to the customer if the 'Buy It With' section recommends an adaptor rather than rechargeable eraser refills!!

The Afmat will sharpen pretty much any pencil you have (except those massive jumbo ones). I have sharpened thousands of pencils in mine and not had one breakage. That is for a collection covering a large number of the most popular makes of pencil. It auto stops and gives a beautiful fine point. I have only praise for this item.

Don't do what I did, see it on Youtube recommended. Go straight to product and instantly buy without checking the reviews or the small print stating that if you live in UK the plug will be US! Luckily managed to find an adaptor and it works and seems great so far, though might take a bit of getting used to as it is very powerful sharpener. However I really think if its being old on the UK version of Amazon it should have more clarity in the title about the plug. Most people will just assume its going to come with a UK plug.

Item arrived with a US plug so have had to purchase an international plug converter. I have not been able to use the sharpened as yet though reviews are pretty good.

This electric pencil sharpener was a treat to myself, so I didn’t need to sharpen hundreds of pencils by hand. Big disappointment - it doesn’t have a UK or EU compatible plug. I don’t even know if it works, because I can’t plug it in! And returning it to Amazon is turning out to be a nightmare - I did what it said in the return instructions, but these are NOT correct and the return shop would not accept the item. Do I bin it, and waste my money, or persevere and send it back. Whichever, I am not happy with either the process or the product.

I WISH I HAD READ THE UK REVIEW - NO UK ADAPTER PROVIDED. AVOID IF BUYING FOR THE UK.

This product did not come with a mains plug suitable for uk, so I’m unable to use it!!
