Love I Slice knives. Reduces lacerations during use. These have auto retraction to prevent cuts. Highly recommend these.

I've been pretty pleased with these box cutters so far. They're small enough that they're out of the way, and easy enough to stash away in a drawer. My only gripe with this item is that I wish there were a way to lock the blade in place. Any time I was opening larger boxes, I wanted this feature on the cutter. It's not a deal breaker by any means as I'm still very happy with the cutter, but I would make this change to the item if I could.

After misplacing our utility knife and being afraid that we might have left it somewhere our toddler could reach (don't worry, we eventually found it!) I was looking for something safer to keep around the kitchen for box-opening duty.Pros:-- Definitely safer - I won't say it's impossible to cut yourself but it seems very unlikely as you can run your finger along the blade and nothing happens.-- Clever design features - I like that it automatically retracts and has a magnet so it can be stored on the side of a fridge. I'm right-handed but I thought it was neat that you can reconfigure it for lefties (sidenote: the locking tab on the back isn't to lock the blade, it's for opening the case to replace or flip the blade). It's generally easy to use and fits comfortably in the hand.-- Easy to open packaging - It would have been ironic if you needed a box cutter to get this out of the packaging, but thankfully it just pops out.Cons:-- Not that great at cutting - Perhaps this should have been obvious, but a blade that can't cut you also can't cut most other things. It's decent at cutting packing tape on boxes or opening envelopes, but you can also do that with a house key. It can cut cardboard if you really try, but it would not be my first choice for breaking down boxes.-- Seems pricey for what it is - you are definitely paying a premium here for safety and design, as a $1 disposable utility knife will obviously cut better than this.

I love this whole line of products. We started with the original with the tiniest blade because my kids were really young. Original works just fine but this one is easier to cut packages open with if they aren’t as straight or have a thicker amount of tape or packaging to cut through.
