Making Fantasy Cloth Dolls
This book is filled with beautiful detailed photos of how to make various fantasy dolls. It even includes patterns. This book makes doll making easy without even reading the words, although if you like to read, go ahead. I think you'll like this book

Great Photos and Instructions to Get You Inspired
This book, along with her first one, "Introduction to Making Cloth Dolls", was indispensable for my very first cloth doll attempt. The photos and instructions clearly show what needs to be done at each step of the doll construction. I liked that the patterns given in the book of the projects featured are actual size - no adjusting necessary. And how the parts can be interchangeable. I took a fairy doll's body from the first book and combined with the head, arms, and tail of the mermaid doll from the second book with minor adjustments. You can follow her pattern & instructions exactly to make a doll just like hers or experiment to come up with your own. There's enough instructions in the book to get you started on a doll of your own design if you're determined and imaginative. I've really enjoyed both of her books.

They are all quite useful. But one negative point wood be that almost ...
I bought several doll making books. They are all quite useful. But one negative point wood be that almost each book contents will give only different decoration variants of the doll featured at the cover. I still bought them because each book will give some other basic info, missed in another book. So altogether they will provide a full range of doll making wisdom. I also understood that attending a workshop is a basic need. Once you have attended one or two workshops, you will make the most out of the book you got....

What a surprise!
I loved the product (an instruction book). However, the cover was put on upside down!! I guess I'll have to remember that when I use it. But on another note - the pattern/instructions I thought were contained within the book are not. Guess I'll just have to keep looking!

Many years of experience and can't make the dolls head---
I have been sewing and crafting for many years with experience in making bridal gowns to Barbie doll clothes, etc and although I love the look of these dolls I have yet to get past attempting to makethe dolls head. The instructions are very limited with important notes not listedthus making ,what my 15 year oldgranddaughter who is very talented in drawing was going to do the faces on thedoll heads, waiting in limbo for me tocomplete a doll head. We were so excited to make these dolls as a team but until I can figure out exactly how to proceed with making the heads we can't get any further in completing just 1 doll.

Fantacy Dolls....a new sewing adventure
Interesting book. I a lot of quilting type sewing, and thought it would be fun to expand my sewing adventures. I have not yet tried to make these wonderful dolls so I cannot attest to the quality of the directions here. All that said, I am glad I bought the book. I can have already absorbed good information.

this can be anyone's story doll
I was looking for something different for a doll pattern and boy did I find it. Anyone can follow this book and in no time be great at it. AND the moon is the limit with where a person go with the different styles of dolls.

Terrific book
As with Jan Horrox previous doll book, this one is clear, concise and imaginative. I particularly like the steampunk girl and intend to attempt this one very soon - when I get up the courage to try her gesso/acrylic instructions. It was her original book that started me on my doll journey which has given me great pleasure (and a somewhat depleted bank balance) and I look forward to working through this one. Jan's books always contain very clear working instructions, making patterns easy to follow and I would highly recommend her first book for beginners - an excellent starting book - and this second one for those wishing to move on to other techniques.

Rubbish kindle edition.
I returned this book immediately. It hasn't been formatted in any way shape or form that makes it suitable for the Kindle app. All I got was a very narrow shot of two pages across the middle of my screen. Very very disappointed. Poorly done!

Simply, The Best!
I purchased Jan's previous Cloth Doll book and was overwhelmed by the standard of teaching and clear information. It set me on a new adventure, so you can imagine how excited i was to see she'd written a second book.So often second books disappoint - not this one. Jan has taken a step back and reread her work to see if it all makes sense. It is, again, so well detailed, it can be followed by anyone who can run a straight stitch on a sewing machine. Another masterpiece, Jan Horrox should never be underestimated in her talent and experience.

Love this book!
I love Jan Horroxs dolls and textiles and I love her books just as much. Jan gives no-nonsense tutorials on all aspects of making up her patterns from turning the fingers to sculpting, painting the faces to embellishments for the costumes. In the back are full-size templates to trace which is always a bonus to me, I don't like it when I buy a book or pattern that then tells me I need to enlarge the templates by xxx%My only niggle is that Morwenna described as "a twenty-first-century steampunk doll" is more Goth than Steampunk, white skin, black make-up and purple & black costuming, obviously you can make her however you want to but this stopped me from giving 5/5 stars.

Makes OOAK doll making a joy
Designing and making OOAK dolls is a fascinating hobby and they make great presents. This book gives a lot of experience-based information from someone who has the skills and training to know 'what works' well. It's a great read and simple to follow. The author is generous with her ideas and designs. Hope she writes another one.
