Great Back-Up Defensive Knife
Just got my new neck-knife karambit in today and I have to say that it is well worth the money. My knife came moderately sharp on the blade, but with a very sharp point so it will more than do it’s job. The sheath has a very secure grip and so it can be worn without worry about it coming loose. It’s a great back-up defensive neck-knife. The hole in the handle assures that you keep your grip even in chaotic situations. However, I do have large sized hands and they are almost to big for the grip. If you buy gloves bigger than size large I would looked for an alternative or make sure the length of your palm matches the knife handle length. Great knife. Great value. Could even be used for jogging or hiking.

Decent smaller karambit!
Not bad at all. I collect knives in general but didnt own a karmabit so I didnt want to break the bank on one just in case I wasnt a fan. I was skeptical because shrade is know in the knife community as garbage. It's a decent budget steel 9cr18mov. There are some nit pits the handle could be a bit longer I have medium hands and my pinking get awfully close to the sharpened edge. Also kind of thick behind the edge but like I said just nitpicking. (That's what knife guys do). Came with paracord which I wrapped to give it a little more girth and a ok sheath and beaded chain for neck carry. I prefer to belt carry as this is obviously a self defense knife. Overall i like it.

Cheap and cheerful
Price? Dirt cheap. Would I trust it in the woods or with my life? Probably not. Is it a fantastic backup and just plain enjoyable to own? Hell yes! Sheath is adequate, Blade is sharp and it feels good in the hand. There’s a lot to like about this little knife and I’m glad I bought it- BUT a couple small drawbacks. I have large hands so I put my ring finger in the loop- if I do my pinky my hand wants to slide up to the blade. Though most could put their pinky its more than ergonomical with your ring finger in there. The only other gripe I have is I don’t love the tip. The back edge is large and makes for an awkward tip and could create issues down the line after heavy sharpening. I’m going to just put a small false edge on the backside of the tip section- this will give it a better needle tip and crate less problems with more sharpening in the future. Buy the knife, don’t buy the knife- prestige worldwide.

Functionality
Love the size and feel of the blade. Nice a sharp. Fit on the kydex sheath is good nice an tight. Did not like the built-in belt hook. Modified it. Cut the hook off and added a cold steel connection. I would eliminate this belt hook. Gives you more options for attachments.

Curious about a karambit? Start here.........
If you've been curious about a karambit style fixed blade knife, this is a great entry level knife. It's not made of a premium steel, but it is very sharp out of the box, and you're not going to be batoning logs in the woods with this anyway. It's a no frills self defense knife and for the price a pretty damn good one. The polymer sheath come with both paracord and chain for use as a neck knife, but it's honestly too large for that. I used the paracord to make belt loops and it's very concealable and fairly comfortable. I don't really recommend knives for self defense unless you've had some training, but karambit techniques are pretty simple to learn and become proficient in. They're more of a "get off me " weapon you can use to break contact and get somewhere safe.

A fine knife for smaller hands, with a problematic sheath
The biggest issue I have with this knife is the sheath. First, it's VERY tight, making drawing and inserting the knife very difficult. It's so difficult, in fact, that I believe that whoever took the photos for the Amazon product listing didn't realize that they don't have the knife fully inserted in the images, and it's about 3/4 of an inch from being fully-inserted in the photo. The sheath also has a terrible belt clip, which is not only too weak to stay in place when drawing the knife (once again due to the very tight retention), but the clip actually gets in the way of drawing the knife. When FULLY inserted into the sheath, the ring on the blade is obstructed by the belt clip, preventing you from inserting a finger to draw the blade. The only way to effectively draw the knife is to grab it by the outside of the handle; drawing from the ring is basically impossible, unless you carry the knife partially sticking out of the sheath. You can probably fix this by simply snapping off the belt clip entirely, which brings the sheath closer to the original design of the earlier, now-discontinued SCH-111 models of this knife, and opens up access to the ring for easier drawing. Considering the intended use as a self-defense product, I feel like this is a major design oversight, as anything that impedes the user from drawing the knife reliably in an emergency situation is a huge detriment, in my opinion. The handle of the knife is also quite small. I have medium-sized hands for an adult male, and I can't hold the knife comfortably while using the retention ring. In both the reverse and forward grips, I have to squeeze my fingers together so tightly to avoid having my pinky or index fingers land on the edge, that I'm left with such a weak grip on the knife that I couldn't feasibly use it in an emergency situation. If you forego the retention ring and just hold it like a normal knife handle, you can get a good grip on the knife, but at that point you defeat the purpose of having a retention ring in the first place. However, if you have smaller or thinner hands, you probably wouldn't have any issues gripping this knife. Another minor gripe I have is that, while this is clearly intended to be a neck knife, it doesn't come with a chain or cord to actually carry around the neck. That's not a huge deal, since those are cheap enough to get separately, but it is a bit annoying that it doesn't come ready for neck carry out of the box. The blade, itself, is just fine. It's very lightweight, and the skeletonized design allows you a lot of options for wrapping the handle as you see fit, but it's also comfortable enough to use "naked", as well. There are some slight imperfections on the grind, with the bevel having inconsistent thickness along the edge and being uneven on both sides, but these are just aesthetic nitpicks and nothing that would impact the performance at all. The edge came "sharp enough" out of the box. It slices cleanly through paper, and has a very slightly "toothy" edge. The product description states the blade steel is 9Cr18MoV, but the stamp on the actual knife says AUS-8, so I'm not entirely sure which one is accurate, but I'm leaning toward AUS-8. Either way, this is a self-defense item and isn't meant for everyday use like opening boxes, so I'm not terribly worried about edge retention as I hope to never need a knife like this to begin with. Because of the hawkbill shape, sharpening this knife may be difficult for most people, but if you're using this knife frequently enough to dull the blade at all, then you may be making some questionable life choices. That said, if this were to go dull, it's probably just simpler to buy a new one since they're only $20. After removing the belt clip and adding your own bit of paracord, you're left with a decent neck knife. I won't be keeping this for myself, and will be giving it to somebody with smaller hands who could hold this a bit more effectively than I can. If you're somebody with smaller hands and don't mind making a few easy modifications to the sheath, then this is a great use of $20. If you've got medium or larger hands, or you're not really thrilled about making changes to something you just paid money for in order to make it work properly, then this may not be the best choice.

Solid, Sleek & Sharp!
This Schrade SCH111 karambit knife is machined out of a solid block / piece of 9Cr18MoV steel. A little bit of research on 9Cr18MoV produces the following description (from https://steelwillknives.com): "High carbon chromium bearing steel that is corrosion resistant. It is steel that is known to keep its cutting edge and has good corrosion resistance. Blades made from this grade of steel are also easy to sharpen. 9Cr18MoV is one of the most popular knife steels in the world and is a great value in terms of price and quality." Wikipedia.com's description: "9Cr13MoVCo, 9Cr14MoV. Chinese made steels that are similar to 440 but with a higher carbon, cobalt and vanadium content to add more strength to the blade. Uses include high end barber scissors, hunting knives etc." The knife is accompanied by a molded thermoplastic sheath. Although Amazon's description is that it is a "belt/neck sheath," it really does not have any kind of integrated clip or mechanism for easy attachment to a belt. The sheath does have holes through which you can attach the included black cord for use on one's neck. The knife "clicks" in securely to the sheath. Personally, I think the design of the sheath is somewhat ungainly, and wish that the manufacturer would have spent more time to design a workable sheath that was not so "CLUNKY" looking. As for the blade itself, that's where you get the PIZAZZ & the VALUE! As previously mentioned, the blade is machined out of a solid block / piece of the 9Cr18MoV steel. It's simple, ELEGANT & VERY SLEEK. The blade's cutting edge has been GROUND into a tapered & very sharp edge. I wholeheartedly agree with some other purchasers / reviewers in their view that it would be very difficult to find a better value for a knife that's available for less than $20. It was $18.16 through Amazon Prime at the time of my purchase.

Sweet, really similar to max venom dmax
Sweet, really similar to max venom dmax. Except 1/6 the cost. No need for top of the line steel or a fine hand finish, this blade has one purpose- defense. As long as you're not trying to use this as a utility blade it is just perfect, compact and of a length that is legal most places. If it get lost , stolen , confiscated or destroyed some how it doesn't matter, grab another for $20 and carry on. Been a long time user of the benchmade socp dagger, still love it but it isn't legal to carry here due to the double edge dagger design. This fits the bill and hides anywhere you want and it is a downright brutal self defense tool. I usually don't buy blades under $100 , but I've got no regrets on this one.
