Cooler Master Silent Pro M - 850W 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply with Modular Cables (RS850-AMBAJ3-US)

I bought this PSU to go in my new mid/high tier gaming rig and boy I have to tell you I was impressed from the get-go. It came in very solid packaging. All instructions and cables were neatly placed and zip-tied in the box. It even came with a cloth bag to keep spare cables (thank you modular design). One downside is the flimsy *dampening* rubber to be placed around the edges of teh system to cut down on vibration against the case. But, like most cases these days, mine came with little feet to aid in that to begin with, so it was a non-issue. So far *knock on wood* this puppy is one of the best buys I've made for the entire system.It runs quite literally as the name implies "silent." Case fans/GPU fans make up the bulk of noise (though they are quite quiet with their size/low RPM (200mm)). The thing is SOLID. Well made. I bought it on Sept 26th because, for whatever reason, it was marked down to 89.99. Most reviews prior complained this was mislabeled as a 1000W and I could see where that would be a bum deal if you truly need 1000W... but all I figured on needing was 850 and this popped up in the search list. You honestly cannot find a 1) modular, 2) 850W 3) 80 Plus (anything) for under $100... and now it shot up to $140... honestly I'm glad I jumped on this while the deal was hot and can only hope it lasts me as long as I feel it will. TL;DR version: The Pros: - Very quiet - Modular design - 850 W - 80 Plus Bronze - Came with nice bag to keep spare cables in - Price tag (the best part) $89.99 The Cons: - Rubber "feet" to be placed on the outer edges to decrease vibrations is a bit flimsy - It's not a "Corsair" ... but honestly I don't feel like dropping $130 for a 700W non-modular PSU....

For most computers this power supply is perfectly fine. I use it in my main unit but do NOT try to run it at its rated capacity or even close to it. Half capacity it works fine but past that the voltage will sag and if your trying to overclock multiple video cards you won't be happy with sagging 12v rail. Half load it runs very solid.

Honestly this PSU is great for anyone building a PC, however I think I got one with too many watts but oh well. Overall this is a very nice power supply and it runs silently in the background whilst powering all of your components. The cables that come with it are useful for daisy chaining up to 15 drives if your motherboard supports it and 4 GPU's. The main ATX power cables are neatly put together in a protective mesh so they don't clutter the machine and they are easily manipulated to keep them out of the way of other components. Overall I am very satisfied and would get another but maybe with a lower output for my current machine. REVIEW UPDATE: Ok so I have now had this PSU for 8 months and I and I can say it is relatively reliable and stable. It outputs all of the power my PC and I have plenty of headroom for upgrades. It's very quiet and it doesn't get hot and the fan is barely audible. I recently did a GPU upgrade from a GTX 650 to an AMD Radeon R9 270X and the card requires twice as much power than the 650 and the PSU still runs like a champ. I have had no random loss of power and everything has been stable.

This is a very nice power supply, I don't really need 850W of power, but the reviews, build quality, and modular design were sellers. The fan is ultra-quiet; even with the case open it's just about impossible to hear running. The cost of this power supply compared to some other options makes it a good deal - it was less expensive than several other options. If I had to offer a downside, I'd say the "flat cables" Cooler Master makes a big deal about are just OK. First, the built-in non-modular cables are round, only the modular cables are flat. Second, the purported benefit of the flat cables is that air will flow around them more easily - I guess if air is blowing directly at the narrow edge and the cable is held straight, this would be true. In a real-life case the cables bend and twist and there is no way to aim keep the flat edge of the cable directly in line with the airflow. The flat cables are also more difficult to tie back than round sheathed cables, and unless done correctly it's possible to get several of the flat cables lined up along their long side significantly restricting airflow - bottom line for me is that after several builds, I'd much prefer the rounded cables.

My system runs well with this power supply (the 850 watt version). Here's a list of pro's and con's about it. Pro's -The power output rating on this power supply is accurate, meaning it does provide as much power as it says it does. -It stays very cool and quiet. In fact, it stays so quiet that I've had to check a few times to see if the fan was still spinning (and yes, it was running each time). -It has plenty of power connectors, as well as different connectors on different wires. For instance, one of the SATA cables has only 2 connectors, the second one has 3 connectors, and the third one has 4 connectors. Use this feature wisely to give the case the best cable management. -It is heavy, showing that it is made with good parts. My experience shows that the heavier the PSU, the better the quality. -The 8 pin +12 volt CPU connector (it has 2 of those, totalling 16 pins) is well long enough to reach from the bottom of my Cooler Master Elite 430 case to the top of the motherboard, routing the cable around the motherboard so it is out of the way. Con's -The cooling was NOT what I was expecting to get. The page shows some finger-style coolers for the MOSFET's and diodes, but the coolers in the PSU that I received are the standard vertical fin-type. I hope that it can stay cool enough with those. -The size is different than what was stated. Amazon said that the PSU was only 5.5 inches long (which is what I needed), but in reality, the unit is 6.5 inches long. If you have the same case as I do, you know how much of a pain this is. There is a 120mm fan that fits right next to the PSU on the bottom of the case. I had to remove this because the PSU's length was listed wrong. -This PSU's cables were obviously not meant to be used in a bottom-mounted set-up. The SATA cable that I have running up to my DVD drive and external HDD slot had to be twisted around to get it to actually fit. The wires are looped up, and it takes away from the aesthetics of the computer. Neutral's -All the cables are very long, so if you have a small case, cable management will be dang near impossible. -The rubber vibration dampers are a bit tricky. To get them to stay put, I had to wiggle little rubber posts into holes on the PSU's case. Even then some of them popped back out, forcing me to do it all over again. Overall, it's a fine piece of equipment, and the only problems I had were with incorrect labeling and advertising.

When I built my new system I decided to go with a good power supply. What I got was a great power supply for the money I paid! It's very quiet and cool. Wattage does not variate. I don't have a dozen cords, I don't need laying around on the inside of my case because I can plug in only what I need. It takes care of my 790i NVDIA board, 2 GTS 450 video cards, 4 fans, and a streamline card with no issues at all. It's a great choice if you are going to upgrade or build new. Highly recommend it.

The day that I got it, I got best-buy to test it out to see if it will work. So that, it can be installed on my custom rig. What best buy fairfield told me is that there isn't any power coming from my power supply and I needed to do something with it. I was soo upset because I thought I finally got a power supply that could support my new computer. "Man," was I dead wrong. This is the second psu, that I had to buy. My first psu came from cir-cuit city directly, and my second one came through Amazon. My first psu was defective, as well as my second. Now, I have to plan a trip to best buy which is in fairfield when I live in vallejo, california, to pick up my power supply. Fairfield is far away from Vallejo and it takes at least two gallons of gas to get there and two to get back. I like fairfield best buy because of the people that I started to trust. Now I also have to figure out my options because best buy will keep a computer for thirty days before they will contact me to pick it up or they will throw it away. Best buy started to install my computer on september 7, 2011 and it is getting close to the time that I may need to pick it up and bring it home unfinished. Now, that time is approaching fast because I paid over $300 for them to install my whole computer, and that includes this product after my Ultra power supply wasn't effective and active but instead it was defective. When I recived my power supply on september 23, 2011, I was soo happy and I thought my cooler master will end my psu ordeal but I was sadly mistaken. It didn't want to work. I am soo upset that I got the defective product. Word of advice, have a product that can test your power supply unit (psu) at the day you recieved it, or have some store like best buy or Fry's electronics to test it for you, so that, you can know if it works or not. Get the supplies for the custom pc is more work than I ever imagined. Not all products will work, so try testing out everthing before installing it, or have a business do it for you, so that, you can be finished when you install the hardware, or when a business installs it for you. I really wish this power supply worked then I will be able to use my new pc that I got all the parts for. It would have been great because I gotten a (Hd) monitor with a blu ray combo drive, 550 gtx ti graphics card, Amd 1100T x6 processor, 4 case fans, Hdd coolers, VGA cooler, Memory/Ram cooler (Corsair Dominator), 8GBs Ram, Gigabyte Mobo(motherboard), and a Cooler Master Mid Tower that is huge, which also includes other items that I cannot think of right now. I hope one day, I can find a psu that can work, that I can save up for my windows 7 OS(operating system), I want the windows 7 ultimate. So, I will reiterate test your power supply and see if it works before you get excited like I had because when you install it; it may not work for you. If you cannot check it then, have someone else check it like bestbuy geeks or Fry's professionals.

Ordinarily I'd be giving this five stars. It works perfectly and is too quiet to be heard over other things in my lounge. So what's the problem? I bought this with a Cooler Master HAF 932 case which accommodates this PSU perfectly... at the bottom. Great place for a heavy PSU. Unfortunately the cables are designed for a top mounting location. They expect the first drive to be at the top and the power to daisy chain down. Well these cables won't reach round the back (where the wiring belongs on this case) and then out to the top drive bay. They will reach the bottom drive, but then either you can't connect the others or you have to twist the cable round so it can hook in upside down. That leaves the rest of the connectors hanging down and that's no good for powering the other drives. So now what? Well fortunately people make extensions and converters from standard cables, so I was able to pick up power from a 4 pin Molex (old style drive connector) and use that to power my two DVD drives.

Ich dachte zuerst : na, ob das Teil wohl in mein altes Towergehäuse reinpasst ?? Wegen der vielfältigen Anschlußmöglichkeiten war ich mir nicht sicher, ob der Platzbedarf wegen der Steckverbinder ggf. größer ist als bei einem "normalen" Netzteil. War es aber nicht. Hat super gepasst. Alle benötigten und (nicht benötigten ;-) ) Kabel sind dabei. Die Steckverbinder erlauben es, nur die benötigten Kabel anzuschliessen. Nichts hängt herum. Erweiterungen wie zusätzliche Grafikkarten, Festplatten etc. lassen sich problemlos durch Einstecken zusätzlicher Kabel anschließen. 850 Watt bieten genügend Reserven für Erweiterungen. Keine zusätzlichen Adapter notwendig. Das ist echt toll. Sehr leiser Lüfter ! Ansprechend verpackt (mit kleinem Beutel für die Kabel). Hat sich gelohnt.
