If you're a fan of cheesy 80s movies, then Hard Ticket to Hawaii is a must-see. This cult classic gem has everything you could want in an action flick: gorgeous locations, explosive action scenes, and some of the cheesiest dialogue you'll ever hear.The plot of the movie is delightfully absurd. Two undercover agents, Donna and Taryn, stumble upon a diamond smuggling operation while on vacation in Hawaii. But when they try to stop the smugglers, they find themselves in the middle of a deadly game of cat and mouse.One of the highlights of Hard Ticket to Hawaii is the action scenes, which are both over-the-top and surprisingly creative. From using frisbees as weapons to fighting off a snake with a rocket launcher, the movie is full of memorable moments that will have you cheering (and possibly cringing) at the same time.But what really sets Hard Ticket to Hawaii apart is its commitment to cheesiness. The dialogue is packed with one-liners and puns that are so bad they're actually kind of great. And the performances are delightfully over-the-top, with the actors clearly having a blast playing up the movie's campy nature.Of course, the movie isn't perfect. Some of the scenes go on a bit too long, and the pacing can be a bit uneven at times. But if you're in the mood for a fun, action-packed romp that doesn't take itself too seriously, then Hard Ticket to Hawaii is definitely worth a watch.As for the Blu-ray itself, the picture quality is surprisingly good for a movie of its vintage. The colors are vibrant and the details are sharp, which really helps to bring the movie's tropical setting to life. The disc also includes some fun bonus features, including a commentary track with the director and a behind-the-scenes featurette.In the end, if you're a fan of cult classic movies that are equal parts action and cheese, then Hard Ticket to Hawaii is definitely worth adding to your collection. It's not going to win any awards for acting or storytelling, but it's a fun and entertaining ride that will leave you smiling from start to finish.

The 1987 exploitation cult classic "Hard Ticket To Hawaii" represents writer/director Andy Sidaris' crowning cinematic achievement in my opinion. Building on the foundation established by 1985's "Malibu Express", he had a bigger budget this time around that allowed for more over the top action which helped balance out the expected copious amounts of nudity more. As far as 80's exploitation action sleaze goes, "Hard Ticket To Hawaii" ranks near the top. It is ridiculous to the extreme which makes it so much fun if you are of the proper mindset.Mill Creek Entertainment gives the film its long overdue blu-ray debut sporting a beautiful 4K restoration from the original negative. Presented in a 1.78 aspect ratio, the transfer utilizes the AVC codec featuring a high bit rate hovering usually around the mid to high 30's. Detail is superb and no digital scrubbing was done at all from what I can tell. Fans used to watching this on DVD will be blown away as it is truly like seeing the film again for the first time.Sound is presented in 2 channel master audio sounding pretty clear though just a bit tinny in some places but overall solid. English subtitles are included for the hearing impaired.In terms of extras an intro and 37 minute making of featurette have been ported from a prior DVD release. An audio commentary track featuring Andy Sidaris and his wife Arlene Sidaris who produced the film is also included featuring a wealth of information about the making of the film. Trailers for the movie along with 11 additional trailers for some of his other films round things out. A digital code is also included."Hard Ticket To Hawaii" truly has to be seen to be believed. Despite this disc going for only $11.37 currently, it still received the sort of care and attention that a lot of much more well known and accomplished films do not get. The new 4K restoration is exquisite and fans of the film or just 80's exploitation sleaze in general should buy this disc as soon as possible. You will definitely be entertained and not disappointed.

It's on the same level as The Room, Troll 2, Miami Connection, and especially Samurai Cop. If you love those movies, this one deserves a watch.

Like watching Chess cause I have no idea what the thought process is in a movie like this.

My family LOVES this movie. We sit around the fireplace and watch this every Christmas :) The best movie to show to your young impressionable children

Funny movie, great old school flick!

To say I'm embarrassed to even write this review (let alone admit I've sat down and watched this movie) is an understatement, yet here I am typing... For those that love 'so bad they're good movies' (which to be fair, I usually do), you may get a kick of this mid '80s sleaze-fest but even then, you're gonna be left scratching your head as to what you just actually witnessed...When agency operatives and part-time pilots Donna and Taryn (Dona Speir and Hope Marie Carlton respectively) accidentally intercept a delivery of diamonds intended for a local Hawaiian drug lord - he takes it rather badly. Luckily for them, fellow meathead colleagues Rowdy Abilene (Ronn Moss) and Jade ('Rambo 3's' Harold Diamond) aren't too far behind as they both descend onto the island in order to take down this troublesome villain whilst busting various heads, making lame kung-fu jokes and getting naked. Like, really naked. All the time.This 1987 effort from the late Andy Sidaris isn't gonna worry the producers of 'Citizen Kane' anytime soon when it comes to academy awards season. A hodge podge of B-movie stupidity that aims for '70s era Roger Moore James Bond thrills but barely scratches 'For Y’ur Height Only'. From badly choreographed action sequences to inept comedy, director Sidaris' film may masquerade as a fun, spy actioner but the only thing squarely on his mind are the ample charms of lead actors Spier and Carlton - whom we see in various states of undress throughout the picture (don't worry, the boys get equal nudey time, too). Admittedly, some of the humour is highly entertaining (a sight gag where villain Rodrigo Obregon spots a rogue reptile is pant-wetting hilarious) and the cast are clearly in on the fun, but a high level of sleaze runs throughout the production - which if honest, dramatically places the movie out of date when viewed today. Sure, you can argue its just a bit of fun and don’t get too uptight but some of the dialogue is highly questionable and when combined with the ‘porn-lite’ look of the production - its an odd (and sometimes uncomfortable) watch. I guess you have to put the movie in context as to the time it was made (and I’m happy to see it that way) but even then, some of the screenplay could have done with a polish… or in some cases, a rethink.This US Region A blu-ray release from Mill Creek sports a fine transfer with vibrant audio alongside a plethora of extra special features such as a brand new 4K film transfer HD restoration, audio commentary, behind-the-scenes featurette and a fun intro from director Sidaris alongside a highly animated Julie Strain - making sure this is a slam dunk for fans of the director. Even though I was less than enthused and gave it 2 stars (mainly for the amazing snake sequences), I can see this kind of movie has its fans and with this blu-ray version you will be surely rewarded and for that, it is a 5-star release. Just not for me.
