LEARNING CURVE AHEAD
So, after a bit of a learning curve and "almost" deciding to return the lock on the last day possible, I've finally decided to write my review.............keep reading.....I purchased this because of the number of online purchases I make and wanting the security of knowing my packages were secure if I was away from home at the time of delivery. I was naturally VERY excited when I received my lock, my container, and secured the container to one of the pillars in front of my home (see pictures). Unfortunately, the first half dozen or so deliveries did not go as planned and the packages were left unsecured on my porch. This was due to a myriad of factors: 1. Delivery people not familiar with the operation of the lock, who attempted to operate the lock and just gave up and decided to leave the package and move on to their next stop (per porch video camera). 2. Delivery people who did not even pay attention to the container/lock on the porch and just left the package and moved on (per porch video camera). 3. Weak wifi signal strength from the rear of my home (router location) to the front of my home (lock location) that cause the lock to lose connection and not open when scanning the tracking bar code. 4. My own concerns over a message received in the app that connection was lost, which caused me to add/delete/add/delete the lock and app, and therefore believe the lock was not functioning as intended. After several one on one message exchanges on Facebook and a phone call, with the owner/staff of Boxlock (THANK YOU) I was reassured that my lock is in fact functioning correctly (they can tell on their server), and was given some suggestions to address the other situations. The long and the short of it all is this: 1. Change your address for any orders you place, to show on the second line - "PLEASE LEAVE PKG IN BOXLOCK SECURED CONTAINED ON PORCH". This alerts the delivery person to LOOK for the container/lock. 2. Get a friend to cut some vinyl letters for your lock (as shown in the picture) saying PRESS HERE and SCAN TRACKING NUMBER HERE to instruct the delivery person how to operate the lock. 3. Make sure you have good wifi signal strength, and get a wifi extender, if necessary (I needed to do this anyway to have great strength at the other end of my home). An added advantage for me, with a home-based business, is that I can text a temporary bar code to my clients, so they can drop off and pick up items even if I am not at home. BAZINGA!!!!! This was just the cherry on top for me!!!!Most recently, my packages are now being successfully placed in the container by the delivery people, and all appears to be on track. I will say that the staff/owner of Boxlock is AWESOME and was very reassuring that the lock was functioning properly and "talking me off the ledge" the night before (I'm talking 9:00 pm on a Friday night) I was going to return it, because of the "connection lost" message in the app (not the wifi connection but rather something to do with my bluetooth)......thank you, again!!The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is the delivery people learning curve issues. It's just going to take time for the lock to become more commonly used, and delivery people to be more familiar with it. (Each one that I spoke to and educated on the use were amazed, and said they had not seen anything like it before). But those learning issues can be addressed with the delivery address modification and the instruction lettering on the lock.

I wish delivery guys had more patience!
The media could not be loaded. Β I'll start by saying for the most part, this lock is pretty bad ass and cool and I wish delivery guys exhibited more patience with scanning the tracking code on packages. It would be awesome if businesses like UPS, FedEx & USPS were updated on BOXLOCK to inform their workers. I've been using the lock since 12/19/18 and I have the Ring doorbell. I have had to walk delivery guys through on how to use the lock in order to get my packages delivered. Some guys get it without any issues while others try and try until they give up ultimately leaving my packages on the side of my box (not cool). I've also seen deliverers call their delivery partners over to take a look at the BOXLOCK while they scan packages and stare in awe when it actually opens. It's pretty entertaining.I like when I get an email alert or text alert showing that my packages have been delivered. When I get those alerts I immediately check my Ring doorbell to see if the deliverer had any difficulty opening the lock. Some do, some don't and like I mentioned before, some just give up.I only had one issue recently with the lock. Hence the 4 star rating... It was when the mailman scanned and opened the lock - but it would not lock back up. Luckily he was able to communicate with me via my Ring doorbell to let me know. I was away in another State for the holidays - so I had to tell the mailman to leave it unlocked and called my son to stop by my house and remove the lock as well as pick up my package. When I got back home I was able to get it to work again by scanning the lock on the BOXLOCK app while it was unlocked and somehow I was able to lock it again. It's been working fine since. Don't know why that happened - however, this does concern me.I followed what one of the other reviewers did to their lock by adding instructions to it. I have a Cricut machine and was able to make a black vinyl cut to place on the lock that says "PRESS & HOLD" with an arrow point up at the button and then "SCAN TRACKING NUMBER HERE" with an arrow pointing down to where the scanner is. I then taped up the black vinyl letters with clear tape so that it doesn't get removed by the delivery guys. I'm sharing a video from my Ring doorbell of me walking the delivery guy through on how to open the lock. He was good at listening to instructions and was able to open the lock. I say this lock works 80% of the time. I hope eventually the word spreads about this lock and the carriers will have better knowledge on how to use it!Hope this review is helpful!

Lack of multi-user support and slow locking process
EDIT 2:Returning since my lock seems to be defective. It always automatically locks itself after unlocking. Also, it refuses to pair with my wife's phone. (Sony Xperia G8142 running Android 8.0)EDIT:Adding a star for the great customer support. Was able to add my wife's phone by sharing an account like suggested. The problem now is that her phone (Sony Xperia G8142 running Android 8.0) isn't able to find the device over Bluetooth for some reason.I'm also still talking to support about the locking mechanism.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Can't recommend this because of the lack of multi-user support and slow locking process.I've paired the lock with my phone and set it up with my Gmail so it will automatically get tracking numbers. The problem is that a second user can't pair with the lock. I can't even sync her Gmail without having her Gmail account synced to my phone. The biggest issue is probably with the locking mechanism. Once a package is scanned, it unlocks just fine. But then it starts beeping and the delivery person is supposed to hold the lock closed until the timer runs out and it relocks. Too slow for an actual delivery driver to relock. If they don't lock it in time, then it doesn't lock when you close it. You have to instead start the count down process again by rescanning the package or pressing a button in the app.I was able to keep scanning the same package for about five minutes, which I suppose isn't a big thing if the package is locked in a box. The last issue is that I never actually got notified that the package was scanned.
