DOT — Chefs’ Favorite Simple Alarm Thermometer - Cayenne Pepper Red

I wanted a small oven thermometer and love my thermopen 1 so I got this despite some marginal opinions in the reviews. My opinion so far is it's perfect for my needs. Compact, simple to set alarm temp. Intuitive and it only has 3 buttons so how hard can ot be. 1 push per degree or hold down to run fast, up or down. Reads the same temp as my thermopen 1. It's slower, but it isn't an instant read, its for watching temp in the oven. Magnets are strong enough to secure to my microwave cabinet. Not the door, that's stainless and is non-magnetic. My experience is it's perfect for the price! If it fails or has a major flaw I'll update this but glad I bought it now.

I observed a friend using the ThermoWorks DOT, and was impressed how simple and well it worked. I ordered one that day, and it was delivered the following day. Super fast. I’ve not used my thermometer yet, but am looking forward to it. I have no doubt that it will work well. I would highly recommend it!

I picked up the ThermoWorks Chef’s Favorite Simple Thermometer a few weeks ago and it has already become one of the most reliable tools in my kitchen. The readings are incredibly fast and consistently accurate, which makes a huge difference when I am checking temperatures on chicken, steak, and baked goods. Love the convenience, seems accurate. The alarm is loud enough for me. Only drawback is when changing the temp, I have to push button for each degree, can't just hold it down to set up or down.

I have compared this temperature probe, to another meat thermometer, an IR thermometer, and a digital HVAC thermostat, and they all read within 2°. I keep the probe in my oven, clipped to the top shelf, and I have a ceramic pizza plate, down near the bottom to prevent radiated heat, directly from the oven heating element. My old RCA oven has terrible temperature regulation! I turn on my oven and set the desired temperature, then I watch the thermoworks temperature for several minutes, assuming it will cycle +/- 25°, around the desired temperature. Now that I'm actually cooking with the correct temperature, my meals actually taste better!

good product, works as advertised!

I have been hesitant to buy these thermometers where a wire hangs out of the oven or other cooking device you're using but there is no problem. It is accurate and tells you exactly when to take out the meat to let it rest. What I do is use it a few times to verify the cooking time at the temperature I use then I don't even need to use it because I now know my oven and how long it takes to cook whatever I'm cooking at a particular weight.

Takes the guess work out of meat readiness. We have always battled with getting the right temperature on meat whether it was roasting or grilling. This thermometer is a game changer.

It is fine device. It looks very solid. Is has sound alarm for heatin up. But, unfortunatelly, no allarm for cooling down. You cannot use it to cool down to a set temperature. No use to me. This should had been explained better.
