Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. This is a GREAT product!
I'm not certain how the negative reviewers used this product. It will NOT make old scratched records sound like new again. It is designed to treat clean records to prevent static and lightly lubricate the grooves. It does have some alcohol content but not as bad as some of the negative reviewers would have you believe. It only takes a very small amount (A light spray on the applicator pad) to treat the side of a record. One can _should_ treat at least 100-150 records if used properly. For best results, a thorough cleaning of your record should be your first step. Even brand new records have some residual chemicals on them from the pressing process. I use my brother's VPI cleaner which does an excellent (not perfect but better than nothing) job of removing dirt and residual chemicals. Once your records are cleaned, apply the GG as directed. One treatment will last for at _least_ 100 playings before a re-treatment is required. Admittedly the $40 price tag is steep. But I swear by this stuff and have treated every record I own and will continue to use it as long as it's available.Edit: Aug 10,2019 I finally broke down and bought my own Okki Nokki record cleaner and have begun to scrub all my vinyl that I was unable to clean using my brothers VPI. I still swear by this stuff and just ordered another can to continue the treatments. If you use this product as it was intended to be used, you will never use anything else. I think they changed the formula slightly, (it doesn't have the same smell as my original can) but it still works great! Follow the directions and you will be a happy audiophile. DO NOT let the naysayers scare you away from this product. One treatment after a thorough cleaning and you'll think you are listening to a new pressing. Just remember, it WILL NOT make old, ground up vinyl sound new again. It isn't a miracle cure for trashed records. There's no such thing. If your vinyl is crap, it will always sound like that, no matter what kind of treatment you try. But this stuff is perfect for decent, CLEAN pressings that haven't been through the wringer on your old Capehart record grinder system.

A must for any DJ or vinyl lover!
I love this stuff! It gets rid of static on new records right away. It gets the record nice and clean and makes them easier to grip when scratching believe it or not. I always keep one or two cans of this stuff on hand. It's a great product and I highly recommend it to any DJ or anyone who commonly uses vinyl records. I would give it 10 stars if I could!!

I didn't really expect it to work... but it sure does.
I thought a long time before ordering this product. I had my doubts but I figured that a product that's been around for over 40 years can't be a total fraud. Well I've used it now for two months on about 50 to 60 records so I'm ready to give my opinion.I didn't think this product would work well as a cleaner so I kept to my normal cleaning routine of giving my LPs a good wet wash and then dig the micro-dust out of the groves with my carbon-fibre brush. Then I treat them with the Grov-Glide product. As per the instructions I apply it sparingly but thoroughly. When I was done I noticed that the record looked cleaner and had a shiny luster so I guess it does do some cleaning. the records also seems to have less static so both those product claims are true. When I play the records, these are the results: 1) The record sounds better with less hissing and popping than with washing alone. 2) There is also a noticeable improvement in the fidelity and clarity of the sound. 3) The stylus looks cleaner (I use a 60X microscope to check it) and it stays cleaner longer so I guess that longer life for the records and stylus must also be true.Bottom line is that: I'm not crazy about the price but Gruv-Glide works so I'll be purchasing a refill when my can runs out. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys listening to LP Records and wants to protect their record collection and keep them sounding good.

Is it psychological?
I have a ritual when I buy used records. 1. If they're really, really dirty I'll wash them carefully with distiller water mixed with a little windex; to get off the grease, hair, and fingerprints. 2. GruveGlide. 3. Slide the clean record into a new Mobile Fidelity Rice paper sleeve. 4. Put the whole album into a 3 mil plastic cover. If the record isn't too dirty, I'll skip the wash.Does GruvGlide really work? Maybe. It does appear to do a nice job for minor cleaning and eliminating any static. It does appear to restore some sheen to the vinyl making it appear new. Or at least, newer. However if you spray too much it will actually dull the sheen of the record, so use sparingly.Does it actually make records sound better? Does it actually protect the record? Not sure. It may be more of a psychological effect based on having a clean shiny record. Still, I use it anyway. I'm on my third can!One warning. The can/cap/nozzle are cheaply made. So be careful prying off the cap. I forcefully pried off the cap once and the whole can jumped out of my hands and dented the nozzle. It leaked and dribbled the contents. Just open the cap with care.

It works well but a bit messy
I've been curious about GG for years and I finally got around to trying it. I must say it works very well at removing static electricity from your records. The only caveat is the residue that it leaves behind on the stylus which will require cleaning after each treatment. For the record this little 4.5oz. spray can of GG treated 185 individual records.

Works well but...price???
I've got a large collection of vintage vinyl and while the recommended 2 sprays on the pads and wipe..wipe works, I'm willing to bet there's a more economical way to achieve the same result. As far as improving sound??? Don't believe the reviews. it does nothing to the SQ and it only makes sense, it's just a spray on a sponge..come on. Again, just so no one thinks I'm bashing..it does remove static which is what it's advertised to do, but above that??? Nah
